The Opportunity

Save the Children International has an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as the Senior Humanitarian Advisor, Cash & Vouchers (Maternity Cover) in the UK (London or Remote) or any existing Save the Children International Regional or Country office worldwide.

Role Purpose:

The Senior Cash and Voucher (CVA) Advisor will contribute to strength Save the Children’s capacity to deliver Cash and Voucher Assistance (CVA) and in a timely, effective, and efficient manner. The Senior CVA Advisor will contribute to the programme quality and the development of capacities on CVA across sectors (such as Nutrition, Education, and Protection) building evidence, disseminating knowledge and best practice, and building a network of experts in the organisation. The person will work closely across Save the Children teams to design, implement, monitor, and support CVA Preparedness and CVA program design across the different phases of the project cycle. He will also actively contribute to evidence generation on CVA and to the definition of the research agenda.

In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

Essential

  • Extensive previous work in the design, implementation, and monitoring of CVA delivery;
  • Strong understanding of CVA principles and practices
  • Strong experience on capacity building and mentoring;
  • Comprehensive understanding of CVA technical requirements
  • Leadership in the development, implementation, management, and institutionalizing of staff capacity
  • Excellent planning, management and coordination skills, with the ability to organise a substantial workload comprised of complex, diverse tasks and responsibilities
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in applying MEAL framework and Standards for CVA
  • Can identify, explain, and troubleshoot the challenges to the delivery of CVA, balancing humanitarian imperatives with contextual constraints
  • Previous experience & knowledge of key steps of CVA Operations, including: feasibility, risk and appropriateness analysis; market and financial provider assessments. analysis of response options and choice of CVA modalities;

Desired:

  • Previous Experience and technical knowledge of CVA for Sectoral Outcomes (Nutrition in particular)
  • Experience designing capacity building curricula
  • Previous experience on research for CVA
  • Knowledge of donor-specific requirements, with a particular focus on USAID, ECHO, DEVCO, NMFA, World Bank, and the United Nations
  • Proactive nature

We can offer the option of flexible working hours.

This role can be based in the UK (London or Remote) or any existing Save the Children International Regional or Country office location on approval, provided the successful candidate has proof of eligibility to work from the preferred location for the duration of the contract.
