Job Description

Senior Director, Decision Support Products and Data Strategy – Work from home/location flexible

The work location for this exciting opportunity is virtual. The selected candidate will work remotely and can be located anywhere in the United States.

For those candidates located in Colorado, the salary range for this position is: $125,900 – $160,000

The Senior Director serves as product owner for a portfolio of analytic and geospatial products (collectively referred to as decision support) supporting Humanitarian Services (HS) mission operations and planning. This position leads product strategy, design, roadmap, development, and delivery to ensure the decision support product suite enables desired outcomes such as: provide real and near-time situational awareness for efficient and effective disaster response and recovery operations; enable collaboration with partners using a blend of Red Cross, partner, and open data sources; enable data-driven decision making; and build capacity for AI and predictive analytics. This position will lead a product team and partner with technical and business teams to deliver products that help our workforce accomplish its mission by taking a human-centered design approach to digital experience and adoption.

Additionally, the Senior Director has responsibility for ensuring HS data is managed holistically as a strategic asset and aligns with Red Cross enterprise data strategy. Key initiatives include maturing data governance; promoting data literacy and adoption of analytic products; improving data modeling; and expanding data integration. The HS data team will partner with technology and business teams to drive consistency in policy, systems, management, and usage.

Responsibilities

  • Leads the development of product strategy and roadmap for the Decision Support product portfolio in collaboration with HS business and ARC IT colleagues. Leads planning for product design and development sprints. Product portfolio currently includes RC View and Partner Hub on the Esri ArcGIS platform; Sheltering on the MS Power App platform, and HS use of PowerBi dashboards.
  • Collaborates with technology partners such as Esri ArcGIS and Microsoft Power BI on product development and delivery.
  • Leads development of HS data strategy in alignment with Red Cross enterprise data strategy.
  • Partners with enterprise data team to ensure adoption of data platforms, practices, and capabilities for data integration, data catalog, data governance, and data warehouse.
  • Manages the HS Decision Support product and analytics team and budget. Promotes professional development and team engagement.
  • Manages product KPIs such as performance, adoption, and analytics to ensure alignment with mission needs and workforce success. Ensures product scalability and resilience for major disaster response activity.
  • Identifies opportunities for business and product innovation, adopting emerging capabilities, and collaborates with technology and business partners on advanced analytics development.

Qualifications

Education:: 4-year college degree in computer science, information systems, GIS, data analytics, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience: Minimum 8 years required in roles related to business application or digital product development and/or management

Required

Demonstrated experience in:

  • Product management: leading collaboration with business stakeholders and engineers to enable effective product design, development, innovation
  • Using agile development methods (e.g. design and development sprints) and platforms (e.g. Jira)
  • Coaching and developing inclusive teams to continuously learn and perform effectively
  • Application and data integration
  • Researching external market trends for design inspiration and strategy development

Preferred

  • Proficiency with GIS solutions such as Esri ArcGIS and open-source GIS
  • Proficiency with data visualization platforms such as Microsoft Power BI or Tableau
  • Proficiency with AWS data, API, or developer solutions
  • Experience using design thinking methods (e.g. journey mapping) and/or service design methods (e.g. service blueprinting) for user research, collaboration, and innovation
  • Proficiency with product management best practices
  • Proficiency with design collaboration tools (e.g. Mural, Miro, etc) and product analytics or digital adoption tools (e.g. Pendo, WalkMe, etc.)

Management Experience: Minimum 7 years of staff management required.

Essential Functions/Physical Requirements: Depending on work assignment, may require ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; or the ability to stand, walk and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of up to 20 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read technical information. Overall mobility is essential. May include sitting for long periods of time, driving a vehicle and working under challenging conditions.

Work Conditions: Work is performed indoors with some potential for exposure to safety and health hazards related to emergency services relief work. May travel and participate in meetings and conferences throughout chapter jurisdiction, state and Red Cross system. Because the Red Cross is a disaster response organization, staff may be asked to be on 24-hour call during period of major disaster.
