Senior Civil Structural Engineer

Petrofac is currently looking to recruit a Senior Civil Structural Engineer to be based in Halfaya, Iraq.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for review and approval of EPC Contractors’ Engineering and Vendor documents under PMC role in compliance with Contract, Project Standards, international codes and standards with budgeted man-hour and project schedules.
  • Coordination and interface management with client and contractors for discipline related work scope
  • Undertake contract review to fully understand the scope of work and specifications, resolve discrepancies and divergences from contract specs highlighted by Contractors
  • Develop, implement, and review delivery of the discipline-related components of Civil and structural design and calculations
  • Ensure that Contractors provide safe, fit-for-purpose, fully integrated and operable design solution that meets product requirements, and includes appropriate validation and verification.
  • Manage the production of fit-for-purpose discipline-related design deliverables from Contractors that define and preserve the design intent and are organized and align with the plant configuration, as appropriate.
  • Support the Engineering Manager in providing engineering design support to work scope definition throughout procurement, construction, and commissioning project phases.
  • Identify appropriate design and engineering standards and practices to be used for delivery, including the use of Value Improving Practices, Lesson learned and apply them intelligently.
  • Review Structural analysis and element design in concrete, masonry and steel
  • Well conversant with British and American Codes viz. AISC, ACI, and BS codes
  • Ability to respond to technical queries in conjunction with project FEED and design Basis.
  • Familiarity with standards, and international codes and the ability to make engineering judgements from first principles with a fundamental understanding of structural behavior.
  • Understanding of the requirements of other engineering disciplines.
  • Experience of work in a highly regulated environment.
  • Contract awareness.
  • Ability to extract, Evaluate and verify input design data from geotechnical investigation reports and related Engineering documents.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Civil Engineering Degree from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum 12-15 years in relevant experience in Petrochemical or Oil & Gas design / project/construction in a similar position
  • Preferably working with an international PMC/ EPC company
  • Previous construction (field) engineering experience is desirable
  • Adequate knowledge and practical applications, international specifications, codes and standards concerning to mechanical and piping
  • Excellent English language communication skills in verbal and written briefs and skilled in report writing and compilation
  • Work to the highest personal standards and achieve set objectives
  • Proven experience with diverse and multi-cultural teams is essential
