Senior Campaigner – Tactical & Individuals at Risk

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Senior Campaigner – Tactical & Individuals at Risk will be responsible for leading campaigns and managing and coordinating actions and projects that respond to crisis or tactical opportunities to affect human rights change across Europe. The role will also oversee and coordinate our individuals at risk work in Europe, provide advice and support to colleagues in the International Secretariat’s regional office and AI’s national offices.

The role sits in the Europe Regional Office. As we face one of the most challenging and uncertain periods in our region’s recent history we stand with people facing a rolling back of their rights, demonising politics and growing authoritarianism. We have an ambitious plan for the region to achieve Amnesty’s vision for a more equitable and sustainable world, where all people enjoy the protection and promotion of their human rights. ABOUT YOU

We are looking for a confident, experienced campaigner who is strategic, agile and able to respond to fast changing external events; able to identify opportunities for impact; make strategic decisions and mobilize support and action and work effectively with partners and allies. Working with individuals at risk is also a crucial dimension of the role and we are looking for someone who understands and has experience of the ethical considerations and needs of working with individuals at risk and can drive this work strategically and with sensitivity and determination.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Extensive experience leading, developing and delivering impactful campaign strategies and campaign objectives at national, regional and international level; Excellent understanding of strategic campaign methodologies, power analysis methodologies and other campaign development and evaluation tools.
  • Knowledge of the region and the human rights framework and experience working on human rights or social justice campaigns; ability to identify and understand relevant information about human rights or country situations quickly in order to undertake campaign strategy development.
  • Experience working with human rights defenders or individuals at risk and an understanding of key principles and approaches and the ethical considerations involved in working with people impacted by the organisation’s work.
  • Proven ability to lead innovation and creative approaches to effective campaigning; experience of using online and offline activism techniques to achieve campaign objectives.
