Team Rubicon International (TRI) is seeking a Senior Associate, International Planning & Security. The Senior Associate, International Planning & Security will maintain situational awareness and a common operating picture of disasters and humanitarian crisis around the world, expand the utilization of operational planning processes throughout the disaster cycle, and serve as lead facilitator for TRI HQ during times of activation. The Senior Associate, International Planning & Security will be responsible for managing the planning and security assessment functions in support of all TRI disaster response, and Complex Crisis Response operations, and long-term programming to assist vulnerable population overseas.

Every day will be a challenge, but every month brings new opportunities for an organization that is quickly becoming a household name in disaster response. This position reports to TRI’s Manager of International Operations and is based out of Los Angeles, California.

Duties:

  • Develop and maintain situational awareness and a unified common operating picture
  • Lead operational planning for complex international events responses and other engagements as directed
  • Develop and maintain a security operating framework including but not limited to risk assessment, security plan, security training, security procedures.
  • Advise, train, and mentor relevant TRI personnel (full-time, part-time, and volunteer planning) in the function, methods, and perspective of planning in support of disaster operations
  • Coordinate and ensure execution of After-Action Reports to capture and implement organizational learning from disaster response operations and exercise scenarios
  • Act as Team Rubicon International HQ lead facilitator during periods of activation
  • Act as TRI security focal point for staff, volunteers, internal and external stakeholders
  • Maintain, update, and standardize TRI operational doctrine to reflect best practices, organizational developments, and changes to international and federal regulations
  • Develop and maintain relationships with UN, NGO, INGO, Governments, and private organizations in support of disaster operations
  • Attend events related to emergency management and security
  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as needed

Experience and Background:

  • Bachelor’s degree in international relations/development security studies or related field; or equivalent experience
  • 3 – 4 years of relevant experience in the non-profit, military, or security community
  • Experience working for an INGO in a complex humanitarian environment, highly desired
  • Experience in overseas security strategies and small teams’ tactics
  • Proficient in computer systems (Microsoft Office, Google Apps, GIS, etc.)
  • Experience in data collection, processing, analysis, and information production

Pay Range:

  • $56,000 – $70.000 per year

Special Requirements:

  • This is a full-time, in-office position located at the Team Rubicon International HQ in Los Angeles, California
  • This position has a flexible work schedule, requiring availability on occasional weekends, evenings, and during periods of high operational tempo. When disasters strike, Team Rubicon staff does what is needed to quickly deliver its services around the globe
  • The person filling this position may be required to complete training courses as recommended and made available by Team Rubicon
