Senior Administrative and Finance Assistant

Job description: Plans and executes all necessary office administrative and financial accounting functions. Carries out supervision on the whole finance process, human resources management, day to day coordination of the office, crisis support on HR and finance issues and supervision of the Administration & Finance Team on the assigned tasks. Acts as a focal point to the Administration & Finance personnel employed in the field offices on finance, HR and office management issues and provides the necessary support to all the DG ECHO field offices under the area of responsibility. The SAFA acts as a focal point for the Quito Antenna, as well as provides backup and surge support to the field offices in the LAC region.

Minimum requirements:

Education: A relevant second level university degree or equivalent professional experience.

Knowledge and Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience at national or international level in the area of administration or programme support service including experience in procurement, human resources and finances, as well as provision of inputs for regular reporting, both financial and narrative
  • Experience in handling complex organisational issues
  • Good knowledge of the labour legislation in Colombia
  • Experience with countries in the region is an advantage
  • Experience in a non-governmental organisation or an international organisation is an advantage.
  • Experience in the use of computers and office automation software (MS Word, Excel, etc.).
  • Experience in the usage of ERP software(s)

Languages: Excellent command of English and Spanish (oral and written). French will be an asset.

This position is open to nationals and other residents of Colombia with valid work and residence permits.

The contract is initially for one year with the possibility of renewal subject to a two months’ probationary period. As an indication, the monthly basic salary is on average approximately COP 7 953 899 which corresponds to 5 years’ relevant work experience. The salary will be adapted according to the exact duration of relevant professional experience supported by a work certificate (the basic salary for 12 years of relevant work experience supported by work certificates is on average COP 8 579 418). In addition to this, the employee will also receive other allowances and benefit.

Contracts will be ruled under the Colombian´s labour legislation.
