Description

arche noVa – Initiative for People in Need is a non-religious, independent non-profit and non-governmental organization (NGO) with Headquarters in Germany. We work in the field of humanitarian aid, rehabilitation and development and primarily focus on the WASH sector.

Globally, arche noVa currently works in twelve countries. Since 2013, we have been implementing projects for IDPs, returnees and host communities in Northern Iraq and Kurdistan (Diyala, Sulaymaniyah and Kirkuk Governorate).

arche noVa provides WASH services in IDP camps in Sulaymaniyah, Kalar and Khanaqeen. Over and above that, we also provide WASH services and support outside of camps by rehabilitating WASH facilities in schools and health centers, as well as improving water and sewerage systems in villages. arche noVa is further expanding on these WASH support activities through a more sustainable long-term and holistic approach focused on community engagement, capacity building and livelihood diversification in the agricultural sector, yet always continuing to keep WASH at its core.

arche noVa co-leads the WASH Sub-cluster in Sulaymaniyah Governorate and the WASH Working Group in Northern Diyala Governorate.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to drafting new concept notes, project reports, submission packages and other project documents in close coordination with relevant managerial and thematic units within AN;
  • In close coordination with Head of Programmes and humanitarian and development project coordinator, track submission progress, and review and edit interim and final project reports for donors and AN HQ, ensuring adherence to project proposals, signed agreements and institutional reporting requirements;
  • Support AN’s Knowledge Management (KM) by ensuring that project documents, donor agreements, periodic reports and key correspondences are archived on AN NextCloud e-platform in line with established procedures
  • Support the implementation and improvement of monitoring and evaluation tools and frameworks
  • Participate in donor briefings, conferences, workshops, Cluster meetings, working groups, etc. as requested by the Head of Mission and Head of Programmes;
  • Coordinating with the AN staff in the other Area Office(s) as well as the Country Office, to ensure programmatic integration and learning;
  • Ability to conduct capacity building training to AN staff on key elements of report writing skills.
  • Attend cluster coordination and other relevant meetings at regional level if requested, represent the project for the relevant stakeholders.
  • Develop reporting template for AN Iraq mission.
  • Regularly share information on lessons learnt in the field;
  • Any other duties as assigned by – or via the supervisory line.

Qualifications & Preferred Skills

 

  • Bachelor degree in Intentional relations, Development, Social or Political Sciences, Project Management or a related field from an accredited University with two years of relevant professional experience;
  • Proven experience in the field of humanitarian and/or development issues, project design, and project implementation.
  • Work experience in project research, report writing and logical framework approach.
  • Proven Knowledge of SPHERE standards in the fields of WASH and Protection.
  • Proficiency in office software packages (MS word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Fluency in English, Arabic and Kurdish, written and spoken.
  • Experience with IHF, ECHO, OCHA and/or BMZ projects is a very strong asset
  • Knowledge of NGO programming
  • Knowledge in at least one of the following fields: Water, Sanitation and Hygiene; Food Security and Livelihoods; Education; Protection will be an asset
  • Experience in liaising with governmental authorities relevant as well as other national and international institutions. 
  • Proven team management experience in humanitarian environments is preferred.
  • Time management, planning and organizational skills.
  • Ability to treat individuals with fairness and respect, demonstrating sensitivity for ethnic, cultural and gender differences;
  • Must have strong technical knowledge and understanding of WASH services, with a focus on environmental and sustainable solutions, within the regional context;
  • Must have strong quantitative and analytical skills, verbal skills and ability to communicate technical information clearly and effectively to both technical and non‐technical colleagues;
  • Ability to work efficiently, under pressure and adapt to challenging conditions.
  • develops and promotes effective collaboration within and across units to achieve shared goals and optimize results.
  • produces and delivers quality results in a service-oriented and timely manner; is action oriented and committed to achieving agreed outcomes.
