Description

Objective:

The national Agronomist devises, Plans, Implements, and monitors the Livelihood and structural Support of agricultural programmes in line with the country strategy under relative supervision from his line manager. He is climate change smart and adapts programs and projects. He supports the Sub delegation agronomist who is the functional manager. He liaises with Water & Habitat department regarding water used for irrigation purposes. He manages and is involved in value chain assessments in agricultural sectors.

                                                                                                                                               

Main duties and responsibilities:

 

  • Contributes to analyzing the security, socioeconomic, cultural, and political environment as it relates to the ICRC.
  • Designs or adjust data collection tools;
  • Supervises the whole Livelihood Support Program; agricultural program cycle, in terms of data collection analysis, including post-harvest assessment;
  • take part in field visits, particularly to support agronomists in Sub delegation. Liaise with state institutions (MoA) and other international agro organizations (FAO, ITC);
  • Devise implements and can sort out any issue regarding agricultural programme and/or projects. Collect, interpret, and analyze data related to food production, prices, inflation, drought, shortage;
  • Takes part in expanding or strengthening the delegation’s network of contacts among the population, the local authorities, and/or other stakeholders.
  • Can collect and interpret market information, can contribute to value chain assessment;
  • Ensures that proper methods, planning, implementation, logistics, and reporting are used during aid distribution;
  • Design DataBase describes results produce data visualization for Economic Security and other departments, in BAG Delegation and BGD Sub delegation ;
  • Supervises and supports and contributes to the appraisal of B2 agronomists.

Qualifications & Preferred Skills

 

Education and Professional Experience required:

  • Post Graduate degree or Bachelors in agronomy.
  • 4 years’ experience (if post-graduate Degree) in an agricultural setting, 6 years for bachelor’s degree.
  • Computer skills including Microsoft suite – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
  • Fluency in written and spoken Arabic and English.
  • Knowledgeable of Iraq’s economic status.
