Can you lead the development of projects in the Eurasia region?

We are looking for a Regional Project Development Specialist (RPDS), to take the lead and/or to support Country Managers and Delegates in the EURASIA region (Ukraine, Armenia, Nepal, Myanmar, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, North Korea – but not limited to) with the development of persuasive project proposals, concept notes, and other materials supporting the fundraising efforts of the Europe and Asia region.

The DRC Eurasia Regional Office is looking for a mobile and dynamic colleague with experience in project/programme development and with a climate change background/experience. (S)He contributes to the overall successful implementation of the DRC EURASIA priorities, in line with the Danish Red Cross International Strategy 2022-2025, the Danish Red Cross Global Must Wins, the EURASIA Country Strategies and National Societies Country Plans, while aligning the IFRC Agenda for Renewal.

Based in Kathmandu/Nepal or Copenhagen/Denmark, and with the overall aim to contribute to the enhancement of the DRC programme portfolio and financial sustainability in the Eurasia region, the RPDS primarily:

  • Leads the development of project proposals, across the entire Eurasia Region, in liaison with CMs and Country Finance Officers; with a focus on sustaining countries transitioning from humanitarian to recovery-oriented interventions and with a focus on climate change related interventions;
  • Contributes to maintaining the current donors and to identifying new ones;
  • Contributes to building the capacities of Country Manager and National Societies staff in fund raising;
  • Supports the DHoR/CMs in the development, follow up and update of country business development plans;

Qualifications

We are looking for a person who has:

  • 5-8 years of relevant experience in the design, planning and implementation of aid programmes at an operational level, with at least half this experience based in a developing or humanitarian crisis-affected country, or another challenging context.
  • Practical project cycle management (PCM) and programme financial management experience.
  • Documented experience in developing/leading/writing project proposals for a wide range of donors such as, but not limited to, EU (ECHO HIP, ECHO PPP, INTPA, Trust Fund, etc.), UN Agencies, bilateral donors, private companies; including in a consortium setting, within and outside the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement.
  • Very good understanding of the international development and humanitarian aid coordination mechanisms in-countries (clusters, etc.)
  • Experience with climate change related programme development is a strong asset

How to apply

The right candidate will be offered a contract of 2 years with DRC, with start date in September 2022 (pending Visa, Covid-19 issues etc). The position is based in Copenhagen/Denmark or in Kathmandu/Nepal which is a family duty station. Salary and benefits are in accordance with the DRC Terms and Conditions for Delegates.
