CARE is seeking a Regional Advocacy Advisor who will be a champion for the rights of women and girls in the MENA region and who will work to promote wider Gender Equity awareness through our presence, networks, and partnerships. CARE places Gender Justice at the heart of its work by focusing upon transforming the lives of women and girls through the promotion and protection of their rights, and by harnessing their capacities for transformative change.

The person in this role will guide and support the creation and the advancement of CARE’s advocacy goals ensuring that they combine with programming to multiply impact and sustainability. Working with country teams across the MENA region, the Regional Advocacy Advisor will support strategy formation by conducting analysis to identify and advance advocacy priorities and ensure the results-capture of advocacy initiatives. The role works on developing and improving policies and practices from governments, as well as national, regional and global institutions towards more just and fair societies.

Building a network at the regional level to ensure wide participation and support for CARE’s advocacy initiatives is a key responsibility of this role. The Regional Advocacy Advisor will work closely with the Regional Director and the Deputy Regional Director, Programme and Impact to achieve regional Advocacy goals which are closely tied to our global Advocacy initiatives.

  • Advocacy and policy research, learning and measurement
  • Analyses, Strategy Formation, Action Planning and Implementation
  • Regional Coordination and Global Connectedness

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in international development, public policy, or gender studies. Master’s degree preferred
  • 5-7 years of experience in international aid and development/policy related field. 5 of these years should be within advocacy and policy roles
  • Demonstrated experience of context analysis, policy analysis, design and implementation of advocacy initiatives
  • Be a societal actor, especially within women’s organizations, government, academia and/or NGOs to secure commitment around common goals
  • Excellent communication skills, written and oral, with ability to create documents in both English and Arabic
