Conflict Management Consulting (CMC) provides monitoring & evaluation and research services, as well as technical assistance in fragile, conflict and post-conflict countries. We support the work of international organizations, governments, and civil society organisations, to make evidence-based and context-specific and sensitive decisions. Our in-house staff and global network of consultants offer in-depth thematic expertise on conflict prevention, peacebuilding, stabilization, violent extremism, governance, and migration.
CMC offers the following services:
- Evaluation of programs and projects using qualitative and quantitative methodologies.
- Quantitative and qualitative social research, including in hard-to-access areas.
- Advisory services in the fields of humanitarian assistance and peacebuilding.
- Mentoring, capacity building and quality assurance of local partners.
- Development and implementation of M&E frameworks.
- Third Party Monitoring.
- Scope of Work
As Junior Business Development Officer, you will support the Business Development team in identifying and pursuing new project opportunities, maintaining project references and records. You will lead also in managing CMC’s consultant network, assist in managing the company’s existing Framework Contracts as well as in the production of marketing and communications materials. You will primarily report to the Business Manager but will also work with the wider global team. The position is home-based.
You will be responsible for the following tasks:
- Support the implementation of CMC’s Business Development (BD) strategy through working as a core member of the Business Development Team, coordinating closely with team members and CMC’s managing director.
- Support proposal writing (mostly in English) for assignments for EU institutions, the UN system, the World Bank, USAID, GIZ and other donors; the ability to produce proposals in French is a strong advantage in applying for this position.
- Identify new opportunities, aligned with CMC’s core areas of work and expertise.
- Support the prepositioning for business opportunities, including benchmarking of competitors and potential partners, consortium selection and engagement.
- Identify and recruit team members for key bid and proposal processes, including supporting the definition of roles and level of effort.
- Prepare tailored CVs and write-ups for proposed personnel on bids.
- Support the company’s communication strategy through supporting the production of corporate marketing materials, including news items for CMC’s social media channels and website.
Compile and update relevant references, capability, and past performance statements.

- QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- Relevant master’s degree in social sciences or economics.
- At least 2-4 years of relevant work experience in our field of work, including experience in developing bids for research, monitoring and evaluation opportunities are a requirement.
- Familiarity with the procurement mechanisms of any of the main international donors, such as the EU and USAID.
- Experience in working in the following sectors: security, peacebuilding and conflict management, migration; experience in monitoring and evaluation assignments is considered an asset.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office including MS Word, SharePoint, Teams.
- Excellent English communication and writing skills. French and German skills are an important asset.
- Excellent networking and persuasive conversation skills, with the ability to communicate and negotiate with senior experts and partners.
- Very strong presentation skills.
- Experience in graphic design is an asset.
- Detail-oriented, able to work under pressure and against tight deadlines.
- Excellent time management and attention to detail.
- A team player approach with a positive attitude, willingness to learn and grow.
- KNOWLEDGE
- You are well-informed about global political and economic developments, and you have a good understanding of the major actors in international development and peacebuilding.
- You have a strong interest to expand your knowledge in CMC’s main fields of work.
- WORKING CONDITIONS
- The position is full-time and home-based.
- The start date is as soon as possible and when we have identified a suitable candidate.
- There will be a three-months’ probation period.
- You will have 24 vacation days per year in addition to national holidays.
- You will closely work with CMC’s Business Development Manager, CMC’s Managing Director, and the project implementation teams.
