About the Position: Radicalisation, Democracy & Extremism

PATRIR is recruiting for one of our main EU program lines on Radicalisation, Democracy & Extremism. Due to the nature of our current projects, we are looking for a unique individual who:

· Is experienced in and highly motivated to work to address radicalisation, extremism and challenges to democracy in Romania / Europe;

· Has solid background as a researcher, trainer and/or project officer

The nature of our projects and programs is to tackle and address violent extremism and radicalisation in Europe today – and to strengthen positive, proactive citizens engagement and participatory democracy. We need someone who can fill this key position in the team, and will look for people with:

· research skills and knowledge expertise in the field

· who enjoy working as trainers / facilitators

· preferably with experience on multi-stakeholder collaboration

· and who can assist as Project Officers (or Senior Project Officer depending upon seniority).

Salary

Starting salary range is Euros 900 – 1300 net / in hand (after taxes) depending upon experience and qualifications, with the ability to increase salary further through project development and performance.

Key issues we’re engaging with include: challenging polarisation and community and social divisions – including radicalization and extremism; strengthening multi-stakeholder partnerships and collaboration across sectors; implementation of evaluation of programs, policies and strategies on P/CVE and Deradicalisation Programming.

Key Competencies & Skills

The position requires an applicant with key skills as:

· a researcher who will assist and engage in our research projects on key topics and themes related to radicalisation, extremism and democracy;

· a collaborator able to work well with stakeholders including civil society partners, local authorities and institutions and to support and develop relations of trust with stakeholders and partners;

· a facilitator able to help facilitate collaboration and multi-stakeholder events bringing together civil society partners, local authorities and other institutions;

· a project officer / manager able to effectively manage or support management of European projects including reporting, communication, coordination and stakeholder relations with partners;

· a trainer skilled and passionate about training and capacity building; ability to develop toolkits, handbooks, and practical ‘hands-on’ materials that can support civic engagement and capacity building programmes.

A passion for programme development and supporting continued growth and quality of the Institute’s work is essential.

The Position

Project Officer / Senior Project Officer

Tasks & Responsibilities

Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

ð Research on radicalization, violent extremism and threats/challenges to democracy. Special focus areas such as: gender, peacebuilding, social inclusion, participatory democracy, evaluation in P/CVE and deradicalization fields are also strongly appreciated.

ð Managing Partner and Stakeholder Relations: establishing solid working relationships with partners and other key stakeholders;

ð Facilitation: Preparation and facilitation of multi-stakeholder events and round tables

ð Training: If possible we would like to have a colleague who can join our training team as well.

ð Programme Development & Fundraising: Working together with the team and programme line and partners to develop and grow the Institute’s programming in this field, including development of new and related projects and project grant and funding applications;

ð Project Representation: Attend conferences and training as required to represent the project and the Institute nationally, within the EU and internationally, to promote project outcomes and objectives and core policy and practice objectives of the Institute and improve individual proficiency;

Possibly also Training Development: Development of training materials and content and provision of trainings for stakeholders and partners particularly in fields of: tackling P/CVE; P/CVE Education (formal and non-formal); evaluation.

While you may not have specific thematic experience in all of these fields, this can be supported and developed.

Candidates should have:

ð A background addressing radicalisation, polarisation and/or violent extremism. Ideally this should include either direct community work and engagement and/or strong research expertise and skills on the topic.

ð The ability to work well with people across diverse backgrounds

ð A commitment to quality in your work

ð 3-5 years working experience preferred. Exceptional candidates who may not meet this requirement are still encouraged to apply;

ð Professional background in fields addressing: radicalisation and polarisation; challenges to democracy; design; solutions-approaches; civic empowerment; community development would be highly relevant

ð Solid, demonstrable organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking skills

ð Experience in multi-stakeholder project collaboration and partnerships preferred. Ability to motivate with remote multidisciplinary and international teams is an important competency.

ð Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office

ð Experience in strategic planning, programme planning and development would be positive

ð Excellent English (written and spoken). Native Romanian Language level would be highly valued.

ð Motivation to work in a culturally diverse setting and to support institutional and team development to support overall growth of the Institute.
