  • Provide strategic and technical advice on public financial management (PFM) to the Australian High Commission and the Government of Fiji
  • Full-time contract through to June 2024
  • Based in Suva, Fiji

The Program

The Fiji Program Support Facility (the Facility) was established in 2017 to support and implement Australia’s aid programs such as health, education, emergency preparedness and response and governance in Fiji. The Facility also supports the Australia Awards in Fiji and Tuvalu. The Facility integrates cross-cutting themes, including gender equality, disability and social inclusion, climate change and Disaster Risk Reduction, across sectoral programs. In particular, the Facility seeks to strengthen program outcomes by better addressing the needs of targeted beneficiaries including those who are often marginalised.

The Institutional Partnerships Program (IPP) partners with the Government of Fiji to deliver assistance in targeted areas where Australia is well placed to support Fiji navigate the economic impact of COVID-19: through government twinning partnerships, technical assistance and grants that can be mobilised quickly to support Fiji’s ongoing stability, prosperity and resilience to shocks. This includes support to the Government of Fiji’s implementation of PFM reforms.

The Position

The Public Financial Management Adviser will coordinate Australia’s overall engagement in Public Financial Management in Fiji, by providing strategic and technical advice on public financial management including its links to social protection, including following implementation of reforms, coordinating requests for technical assistance, informing policy dialogue, and leading monitoring, evaluation and learning.

The Person

We are seeking candidates who have an excellent understanding of public financial management theory and practice, including links with social protection, and ideally with knowledge of the Pacific.

To be successful in this role, you will have post-graduate level qualifications in a relevant field. You will have a proven record supporting public financial management reform or economic reform, with a demonstrated ability to effectively communicate results to senior leadership.

You will be required to demonstrate your understanding of DFAT’s policy commitments in Gender Equality, Disability and Social Inclusion (GEDSI), child protection and the Prevention of Sexual Exploitation Abuse and Harassment (PSEAH).

At Tetra Tech, health and safety play a pivotal role in our success. Tetra Tech’s employees work together to comply with all applicable health and safety practices and protocols, including health orders and regulations related to COVID-19 that are mandated by the Government of Fiji. Successful candidates will be required to provide evidence of their COVID-19 vaccination, in accordance with section 52D of the Health and Safety at Work (General Workplace Conditions) (Amendment) Regulations 2021.

This is a locally engaged position. The role is open to Fijian citizens and current residents of Fiji, and the salary offered does not include accommodation or other allowances.
