Position Title: Psychosocial Coordinator Kibondo
Location: Kibondo – Kigoma, Tanzania
Reports to: Project Director

Organizational Context
The Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS) is an international non-governmental organisation with a mission to accompany, serve, and advocate for the rights of refugees. The organisation was founded in November 1980 and has a presence in over 56 countries. JRS undertakes services at national and regional levels with the support and guidance of an international office in Rome. The style of JRS service is human and spiritual, working in situations of greatest need, seeking the long-term wellbeing of refugees and displaced persons, while not neglecting their immediate or urgent needs. Operational Context/Role
The Psychosocial coordinator’s primary responsible is to manage, coordinate, and administer the psychosocial program in JRS Kibondo project, which includes identification of vulnerable population, support groups, awareness campaigns, individual peer support by refugee peer counsellors, trainings and sports/recreational activities for youth among others.
Key Responsibilities
- General
- Take responsibility of overall leadership, management and administration of the psychosocial program in Kibondo.
- Develop and supervise culturally- and age-appropriate psychosocial community-based interventions including support groups, awareness campaigns, individual peer support by refugee peer counsellors , trainings and sports/recreational activities for youth.
- Develop tools for identification and categorization of extremely vulnerable according to JRS’ criteria and regular home visits.
- Develop training modules and methodologies for community members, refugee peer counsellors and other stakeholders as appropriate.
- Deliver trainings to community members, refugee peer counsellors and other stakeholders with appropriate use of participatory methods of adult education.
- Provide appropriate professional supervision to incentive workers engaged in the psychosocial programme
- Develop and maintain referral mechanisms and collaboration with all stakeholders in the area of psychosocial well-being.
- Ensure that confidentiality of beneficiaries is actively protected at all times.
- Ensure that incentive workers know and comply with PSEA and child protection standards.
- Develop M&E framework for the programme
- Maintain project documentation and regularly collect Monitoring and Evaluation data.
- Collaborate with the Project Director and Country Program Officer ant its assistant in the program proposals, budgets and reports as requested.
- Coordinate and keep an updated idea-sharing with the Psychosocial assistant coordinator for all the common practices and beneficiaries.
- Perform other tasks as reasonably assigned and mutually agreed with the Logistics Office
- Staff management
- Recruit, supervise and train Incentive Workers engaged in the psychosocial project.
- Plans the staff needs for the Department in collaboration with the Project Director.
- Control resources in the Department
- Reporting
- Inform Project Director on activities of the project by providing relevant correspondence, reports and meeting minutes as well as making regular updates.
- Maintain communication with other JRS team members, partner agencies, community leaders and other relevant stakeholders and participate consistently in relevant coordinating forums.
- Responsible for prompt submission of all psychosocial department financial and narrative reports to the Project Accountant/Project Director.
- Prepare and submit monthly, quarterly, mid-year, and annual reports to the Project Director.
- Gather, complete and submit monthly means of verification to the Project Director.
- Networking
- Responsible for coordination and liaison between JRS and other agencies/local government/local communities/displaced community as regards to JRS’ Psychosocial programme in conjunction with the Project Director
- Represent JRS at the stakeholders meetings as necessary e.g. Psychosocial Cluster Meetings/ SGBV and Protection meetings and others.

Qualifications and Experience:
Education
- University degree in sociology, social workers or related field from a recognized institution
Experience
- Experience (at least 3 years) working with NGO in education sector
- Experience in managing people/teams.
- Demonstrated experience and commitment to working with marginalized communities.
Language
- Fluency in English and Swahili (written and spoken) and excellent writing skills.
- Knowledge of French and Kirundi will be greatly advantaged.
Technical Skills
- Strong analytical, reporting, strategic thinking and planning skills.
- Strong monitoring and evaluation skills/experience.
- Strong pedagogical competences.

GENERAL CONDITIONS
The candidate must be available to start immediately. The JRS remuneration policy is aligned with the JRS ethos of providing effective and professional services whilst expressing solidarity with those served. Salary is calculated using a post-adjustment multiplier and takes into account years of relevant experience and the degree of responsibility of the role.
