Project officer in the Antimicrobial Resistance and Veterinary Products Department, with focus on the quality of veterinary products

Contract & duration: OIE Staff – 36 months

**Salary conditions: from net 2300 € nets/month to 2500 € + bonus + relocation package

Positioning and reporting Under the authority of the Deputy Director General (International Standards and Science), and the supervision of the Head of the Antimicrobial Resistance and Veterinary Products Department (AMR-VP).

Job purpose The Project Officerwill contribute to the scientific excellence and integrity of OIE activities in alignment with the OIE Strategy on AMR and the Prudent Use of Antimicrobials, by developing and executing a project aimed at combating substandard and falsified veterinary medical product circulation in OIE Members.

Missions and activities Following the recommendations of the 2nd OIE Global Conference on AMR and Prudent Use of Antimicrobial Agents in Marrakesh (October 2018) and the identification of the problematic circulation of substandard and falsified drugs, this assignment will further develop and implement OIE’s programme to combat such situation in OIE Members.

The missions will include the following activities:

**Provide expert/technical advice and support to the OIE Strategy on AMR and the Prudent Use of Antimicrobials Develop and implement an information and alert system on substandard and falsified veterinary products for the OIE’s Focal Points for Veterinary Products Contribute to strengthening the OIE’s annual data collection programme for the global database on the use of antimicrobial agents in animals, to ensure veterinary product quality considerations are adequately addressed; Develop guidelines on post-marketing surveillance of veterinary product quality; Develop methodology, guidelines and tools for field level surveillance of veterinary product quality and support their introduction. Ensure continuous improvement based on feedback from Focal Point training seminars regarding pharmacovigilance. Use the experience of OIE Members that have established procedures to minimise the prevalence of substandard and falsified veterinary products in circulation; Leverage the experience of the “World Health Organization (WHO)’s Global Surveillance and Monitoring System for substandard and falsified medical products”, ensuring data interoperability, bridging with a One Health approach,Serve as contact point for the OIE on this subject matter. Ensure coordination with partner organisations on the implementation of joint strategies and activities Engage professionally with subject matter experts and interlocutors; Maintain a close collaboration with the OIE Collaborating Centres, the WHO, FAO, WCO and WVA and develop new one. Represent the OIE with relevant networks and at international conferences, meetings or workshops; Facilitate correspondence with partners on this subject matter; Monitor and report on programme progress in line with the AMR&VP Department results framework. Support and be involved, when necessary, in other AMR-VP Departmental duties within her/his area of competence, upon request from the Head of Department.

Qualifications and Experience Required qualifications A degree in veterinary science, biological sciences, or equivalent with a specific focus on regulation of veterinary products; Professional experience in AMR, quality of veterinary products or field survey analyst would be an asset.

Requirements Technical skills Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office, in particular Word, and Excel; Excellent knowledge of English, both spoken and written.

Additional competencies Technical knowledge on veterinary drugsKnowledge of drug regulatory processes. Good knowledge of French or Spanish; Experience in the use of antimicrobial agents in animals.

Interpersonal skills Excellent communication skills; Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships in a multicultural environment; Strong analytical and editorial skills; Capacity to learn and being a self-motivated worker; Excellent organisation skills and ability to meet specific deadlines.

Working conditions**
This is a full-time position, as an international civil servant based at the OIE Headquarters in Paris (France). It requires long hours in a seated position in front of a computer. It may also require occasional missions abroad.
