
Austrian Study Center for Peace and Conflict Resolution
The Austrian Study Center for Peace and Conflict Resolution in the name of the Austrian Civilian Peace Service Consortium (the Consortium) seeks a Project Manager / Peacebuilding Expert for the implementation of a social cohesion and conflict prevention project in Lebanon.
The Project Manager / Peacebuilding Expert will be responsible for:
• coordinating and managing the inception and implementation of the project’s activities in Lebanon,
• coordinating implementation of the project with the Consortium’s senior experts, as well as funding institutions, and ensuring responsible and efficient implementation of the work and related resources,
• organizing cooperation with local project partners in the project areas,
• organize and participate in conflict transformation activities (such as dialogue platforms and workshops),
• maintaining and developing relationships with the Consortium’s partners and networks in Lebanon,
• reporting and project monitoring in accordance with the guidelines of the funding institutions,
• ensuring that projects are implemented according to budgets, logframes, deliverables, and donor requirements,
• the position’s working language is English.
Person specifications:
• Master’s degree in a relevant field (essential),
• seven years of work experience in/with fragile and conflict affected states as humanitarian, development, peacebuilding, and/or research practitioner (essential),
• two years of practical experience in working on peacebuilding (essential),
• practical experience in working with donor organizations such as logframe handling, budgeting, monitoring, reporting (essential),
• two years of project management experience (essential),
• good understanding of the Lebanese context (essential),
• C2 skills in English, spoken and written (essential),
• Fluency in Arabic (essential),
• excellent teamworking skills and ability to work under pressure (essential),
• ability to travel spend extended periods in Lebanon as per project requirements (essential),
• practical experience in social cohesion, community mobilization and organization, as well as peacebuilding activities (desirable),
• established networks in Lebanon (desirable),
• experience in project communication (desirable).
The Project Manager will report to a senior member of the one of the Consortium partners.
The position is preferably based in Lebanon, for which a valid work permit is prerequisite. Alternative arrangements, however, may be made in accordance with the Consortium. The position is on a consultancy basis for the two-year term of the project and can be extended for a third year.
