ICU has been active in Jordan since 1999. Among the main activities in the country, ICU has managed interventions in the agricultural, energy and business support sectors.

Project Description – Civil Society Engagement for Circular Green Economy – CSE4CGE

The project CSE4CGE is funded by the European Union, in the framework of the program “Enhancing CSOs’ Contribution to the Governance and Development Process in Jordan”. The project will increase the coordination and reciprocal support between civil society organizations (CSOs) and municipalities in Irbid and Karak in the field of solid waste management (SWM). The specific objective of the project is to reach an effective engagement of CSOs as support to Irbid and Karak Greater Municipalities for the implementation of solid waste management strategies and as linkage entities among governmental institutions, local populations, and private sector.

Expected tasks:

  • Overall supervision and coordination of project activities in order to ensure that the objectives are achieved within the planned timeframe and parameters;

  • Coordination of local project stakeholders and management of the project timetable;

  • Management of the project budget and administrative procedures according to EU and ICU procedures for training and awareness-raising activities;

  • Accounting and financial management of the project: registration of expenses, planning, on-site transfers, responsibility for on-site bank accounts related to the project, guidance and control of procurement procedures of the project partners, accounting reporting both internally and to the donor;

  • Interim and final reports both narrative and financial according to internal and donor rules; finalization of all project management documentation and regular transmission both internally and to the donor;

  • Management of the co-financing component of the project

  • Preparation of dissemination material related to project implementation

  • Need assessment and elaboration of new project proposals agreed with the Italian HQ

Qualifications, skills and experience:

  • Qualifications: university degree. A diploma in international cooperation would be an advantage;

  • Experience in the field: at least 3 years of experience as a project manager in the field of international cooperation. Management of training and capacity building projects would be an advantage;

  • Experience in administrative and financial management;

  • Experience and familiarity with European PRAG procedures will be an advantage;

  • Excellent knowledge of the English language;

  • Strong organizational skills and professional independence;

  • Diplomatic and negotiation skills
