Position

Options is seeking a clinically qualified and entrepreneurial Project Lead to drive the successful implementation of an innovative, first-of-its-kind approach to reducing preventable maternal deaths that result from post-partum haemorrhage (PPH) in Kenya, particularly among mothers in remote or low-resource settings.

The Project Lead will provide strategic oversight and ensure smooth day to day running of the project and leading a small team. They will be the key point of contact for the donor, MSD for Mothers, maintaining a strong working relationship and responding to donor requirements. They will manage a coalition of partners and oversee a participatory governance structure, ensuring the inclusion of women’s voices and community feedback mechanisms throughout the implementation of the project. The post holder will ensure the project meets all necessary clinical standards, achieves project results, and delivers to a high standard.

  • Options has been shortlisted for MSD for Mothers’ funding for this project under the Strengthening Systems for Safer Childbirth request for proposals.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you should:

  • Hold a relevant clinical qualification (doctor, nursing, clinical officer or midwifery) and have experience working within the Kenyan health sector, including maternal and emergency obstetric care and blood hemovigilance particularly at county level;

  • Have a solid understanding of the RMNCAH technical sector in Kenya – a relevant post graduate qualification or equivalent experience would be an advantage;

  • Be an experienced and pragmatic project manager with strategic thinking and problem solving skills and the ability identify and manage risks and course correct to ensure the project is able to achieve results;

  • Be A dynamic and enthusiastic leader with the ability to engage a range of audiences and to spot and act on opportunities for new partnerships that will strengthen and sustain this innovative and pioneering project

  • Be a strong relationship builder, with experience facilitating and maintaining relationships with stakeholders in the Kenyan health sector across government, civil society, communities and private sector – existing relationships in these sectors in Western Kenya would be an advantage;
