Reaching Every At-risk Community and Household with Malaria Services (REACH Malaria) is an anticipated five-year, $213 million, global activity managed from Washington, DC, intended as the follow-on for PSI’s successful PMI Impact Malaria program. REACH Malaria will support the U.S. President’s Malaria Initiative (PMI), as well as the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Missions and Bureaus with malaria programs, to provide implementation support services and technical assistance to countries to accelerate progress in comprehensive delivery of facility and community-based malaria services, including malaria case management, prevention of malaria in pregnancy (MiP), seasonal malaria chemoprevention (SMC), health systems strengthening, data collection and use for service delivery, and other malaria prevention interventions.

PSI seeks a Project Director, USAID REACH Malaria, who will provide vision, direction, leadership, and management for an anticipated 5-year global malaria service delivery project. The Project Director will lead the REACH malaria team on day-to-day tasks, and serve as the Consortium’s representative, responsible for project oversight. This role will readily respond to questions, concerns, and comments raised by the donor, and the Project Director will be responsible for the technical supervision of all aspects of contract work, including consultant and subcontractor identification and management, dissemination of information, and submission of reports and other contract deliverables. The Project Director will model effective leadership behaviors and provide overall direction to the REACH Project.

Responsibilities

Your contributions -Provide overall leadership for REACH Malaria country-level buy-ins and routine report development. 30% of Time anticipated -Ensure strategic REACH Malaria workforce planning, identify and pipeline talent, and ensure a diverse, innovative and high-performing REACH Malaria team. 20% of Time -Manage stakeholder relationships at the highest level, national malaria programs, PMI thought leaders, and consortium partners. 20% of Time -Supervise and develop REACH Malaria team members. Make recommendations on personnel actions, including performance management. Set team and individual goals. Prioritize, organize, delegate, and coordinate the flow of work. Enhance individual employee performance through frequent and timely communication and support. 20% of Time -Oversee technical supervision of REACH Malaria contract, including consultant and subcontractor identification and management, dissemination of information, and submission of reports and other contract deliverables. Closely monitor progress, course correcting when necessary and providing regular updates to the Chief Delivery Officer. 10% of Time

Qualifications

What are we looking for? -Master’s degree (or international equivalent) related to health, social sciences, or development. -At least 15 years of professional experience working with developing countries, with at least 5 years of senior level experience leading complex, multi-country projects. -At least 7 years of supervisory experience -Demonstrated capacity to operate within the malaria international community and function as a leader on matters of malaria control and prevention in developing countries -Demonstrated knowledge of U.S. Government or international development organization policies and procedures as they relate to international development preferred. -Able to manage a portfolio of massive, complex, and rapidly-evolving projects. Able to build scalable models of project delivery and can quickly evaluate projects with limited data, and course correct to maximize impact. -Advanced program management skills, including financial and budget management.

Able to diagnose complex problems, generate effective solutions and communicate compelling strategic courses of action. -Excellent leadership, employee development and management skills. Knowing when to coach, when to advise and when to provide specific direction related to multiple disciplines and functions. -Excellent customer service, relationship building/management and consensus building skills. -Excellent written and verbal communication skills. -Ability to interact professionally in one or more of the following foreign languages (Spanish, Portuguese, or French) preferred. -Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
