Background:

In Somalia and Somaliland FCA has been working under a right to peace thematic areas since 2008 including governance and reconciliation projects and later has expanded in quality education (R2QE) thematic area.

Primary purpose of the position:

The position will support the Project Manager in the coordination and management of the anticipated Strengthening democratic and inclusive local governance in Somalia (STRONG) project, as well as for the contribution and support to the execution of Right to Peace deliverables. The coordinator is expected to introduce and manage innovative approaches for inclusive state building in line with Wadajir frame work. The coordinator will play a key role in establishing and maintaining sound working relationships and partnerships with ministry of interior state level government relevant actors, civil society organizations, local and international NGO partners. The Position will report to the Project Manager

Main tasks:

  • Support the Project Manager to manage and coordinate all related project activities to ensure successful delivery on commitments as reflected in the project contract work plans, and budget.
  • Be responsible for preparing high quality reports as necessary to meet donor project reporting requirements and deadlines
  • provide sound analysis and make recommendations on project related matters
  • Monitor and assess implementation progress, identify barriers and constraints, and work collaboratively with project teams to devise solutions work with the project team to monitor project implementation
  • Work closely with project teams to coordinate project activities track project progress and ensure all project activities are and resource allocation in line with project goals and targets completed on time.
  • Monitor project schedules regularly to determine any delays or deviations.
  • Attend project meetings and follow up with outstanding tasks prepare project reports for management.
  • To coordinate with the Project Team and other relevant departments matters in Local Governance.
  • With the support of the Project Manager, Head of Operations and Administration and the Finance Manager to support logistical and procurement needs of the project.
  • In close collaboration with the Project Manager to ensure the quality of project deliverables, suggesting action/corrective measures and Red flag any burning issue of the budget either over spent or under spent and coordinate with Project Manager

Experience:

  • Master’s Degree in Human Rights Law, Political sciences, development studies, Sociology or related discipline (s).
  • 5 years of working experience in Local Governance, Peace building, Reconciliation, advocacy in Somalia with INGOs,CSOs and UN
  • Knowledge and experience from national to local system for implementation of Local Governance, Peace building, Reconciliation, advocacy in Somalia
  • Drives external networks and partnerships
  • Demonstrate strong negotiation skills on Local Governance, Peace building, Reconciliation, advocacy in Somalia related issues.
  • Shares knowledge and best practices on technical solutions so that other can make the best use of that expertise.
  • Delivers timely and appropriate results using available resources.
  • Has ability to adopt innovation in the program
  • Proficiency in writing technical and programmatic reports that document program directions and results
  • Strong interpersonal communication and coordination skills
  • Good knowledge of Somalia is an asset
  • Leadership and teamwork skills
  • Knowledge and working experience in Gender Equality and Social Inclusion is an asset
  • Proficiency in English and Somali (oral and written)
