ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

The Americas Project Associate (PA) provides administrative and technical support for an Americas regional project under the supervision of the Technical Lead. The PA will be expected to perform mid-level tasks requiring prior experience, education, or training. The PA will support all administrative aspects including reconciling credit cards and supporting and tracking subgrant agreements, particularly related to compiling reports, and coordinating travel and events.

LOGISTICS

This is a fully remote role; our ideal candidate is based in Panama, Colombia, or Ecuador. Remote candidates based elsewhere in Latin America will also be considered.

DAY-TO-DAY TASKS will include:

  • Assist the Americas Program with program management.
  • Maintain project activity training schedules for project development, field reports, and follow-up communications with funders.
  • Assist the Security Specialist and Technical Lead with project oversight, including progress toward program deliverables.
  • Support local partners with project activities and implementation.
  • Provide project field staff with support such as research, correspondence, and procurement as requested.
  • Coordinate travel logistics, assist with visa applications, and arrange accommodations for the staff members, project partners, and other Internews representatives within the department.
  • Responsible for equipment and software pricing, procurement, insurance, and shipping to field offices.
  • Assist with report preparation, including formatting reports and designing graphics, tables, and other visual elements to effectively present data.

QUALIFICATIONS WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Required

  • Up to two years’ prior experience supporting development projects, including field experience.
  • Relevant university degree or equivalent lived/professional experience.
  • Fluency in Spanish and English.
  • Excellent oral communication and presentation skills.
  • Experience with report writing.
  • Strong command of Microsoft Office Suite particularly in Outlook and Teams. Proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint is also desired.
  • Experience making complex travel arrangements.
  • Proven ability to multi-task and prioritize a shifting workload.
  • Proven ability to operate effectively in a multicultural environment.
  • Experience preparing expense reports and budgets.

Preferred

Note: Candidates who do not have these preferred qualifications, but who are interested and willing to learn, are encouraged to apply.

  • Experience with financial management and familiarity with USAID rules and regulations.
  • Experience living, studying, or working in South America.
  • Experience with event planning and/or arranging logistics for project implementation abroad.
  • Experience preparing expense reports and budgets.
  • Experience with research methods.
  • Demonstrated understanding of and/or experience with developing world information environments, including technical, political, and social factors.
  • Online editorial or information curation experience. Familiarity with and capacity to create online reading and communications products.
