Context:

Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission (CoM) in the Netherlands and under the direct supervision of the Programme Coordinator LHD/Resettlement; the successful candidate will be responsible and accountable for supporting the management of the project(s) assigned, within the Labour Mobility Human Development & Resettlement Unit.

Core Functions / Responsibilities:

  1. Act as focal point for the implementation and monitoring of project activities.
  2. Retrieve, compile, summarize, analyse, and present information/data on specific project topics.
  3. Monitor budget; verify availability of funds; obtain necessary approval and update budget-related information.
  4. Act as focal point for administrative coordination of project implementation, involving extensive liaison with diverse organizational units and external parties to initiate requests, obtain necessary clearances, process and follow-up on administrative actions, etc.
  5. Draft status reports, identifying shortfalls in delivery, bring them to the attention of the supervisor and suggest remedial actions.
  6. Draft correspondence on project issues; prepare and update reports, briefing notes, graphics, statistical tables, presentations and other forms of documentation.
  7. Respond to complex information requests and inquiries; set up and maintain files/records; organize meetings, workshops and training sessions;
  8. Participate in meetings and conferences; assist in coordinating implementation activities with local authorities, partners, United Nations agencies, intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations, donors and other stakeholders relevant to the project.
  9. Assist in monitoring the work of implementing partners and report non-compliance to the supervisor.
  10. Provides guidance/training to new/junior staff.
  11. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications and Experience

Education

  • Preferably, a Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Migration Studies, Law or related fields from an accredited academic institution with three years of relevant professional experience or;
  • Completed High School diploma from an accredited institution, with five years of relevant work experience, preferably in similar roles

Experience and Skills

  • Experience in liaising with governmental authorities, national/international institutions, United Nations agencies and non-governmental organizations;
  • Prior work experience in public administration, particularly in the area of labour market integration;
  • Experience in working with migrants is an advantage;
  • Prior work experience with European Commission-funded projects is an advantage;
  • Familiarity with Dutch migration law and policies;
  • Working knowledge of Dutch and European migration law;
  • Knowledge of migration issues and understanding of migration trends in the Netherlands, specifically on labour market integration of third-country nationals;
  • Knowledge of the Dutch labour market, as well as legislation, practice and network in the area of (labour market) integration of third-country nationals in the Netherlands;
  • Proficiency in communicating with audiences from the Dutch private, public and non-governmental sectors;
  • Knowledge of (financial) project monitoring and reporting;
  • Good administrative, communication and analytical skills;
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and SharePoint.

Languages

Fluency in English and Dutch is required.
