    ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT

    This job is found in WFP Yemen Country Office, Marib and the incumbent will be reporting to a more Senior Programme Policy Officer.

    Job holders at this level demonstrate responsibility and initiative to respond independently to queries with only general guidance. There is a requirement to use judgment in dealing with unforeseen problems on a daily basis. Job holders manage resources and coach and coordinate a team of security support staff. These jobs may require to report for duty on short notice.

    JOB PURPOSE

    To provide support to policy and programme activities that effectively meet food assistance needs.

    Key Accountabilities

    • Provide technical support and assist in the development and implementation of project activities and processes within the GFA work supporting alignment with wider programme policies and guidelines.
    • Provide specialized project management support to cooperative partners and GFA staff to ensure the daily ongoing activities are performed within the established targets following WFP’s policies and procedures.
    • Follow up with the CPs daily regarding on-going project activities and timely guidance and sharing of information.
    • Within the specific area of responsibility, including preparing a range of reports and data analysis (e.g. food assistance needs, resource utilization, programme status, FRN preparing, IDPs responses, CPDR clearance,) and highlight trends/issues ensuring deliverables adhere to corporate standards and quality control.
    • Ensure and/or perform accurate, timely recording of data within the GFA (e.g. assistance programmes, food security, and vulnerability assessments) and consistency of information presented to stakeholders.
    • Liaise with internal counterparts to support effective collaboration, implementation, and monitoring of ongoing project activities.
    • Close coordination with SC on dispatches/deliveries of ongoing food commodities.
    • Track the process of deliveries and distribution through HTS and sharing it with the partners.

    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (Cont’d)

    • Coordinate and communicate with local partners, agencies, NGOs, and government institutions to perform accurate food security analyses and to ensure efficient delivery of food assistance.
    • Support the capacity building of WFP (GFA) staff, cooperating partners, and national government within the specific technical area.
    • Act as a point of contact for the resolution of a range of operational queries and problems within a specific technical area of responsibility.
    • Oversee and/or review the work of other support staff, providing practical advice and guidance, to contribute to delivering objectives to agreed standards and deadlines.
    • Follow standard emergency preparedness practices to ensure WFP can quickly respond and deploy needed resources to affected areas at the onset of the crisis.
    • Actively involved in the partner’s evaluation and selection process.
    • Managing the partner’s budget in the FLA.
    • Submit daily, weekly and monthly reports to the project manager.
    • Any other additional tasks assigned by the supervisor

    Knowledge And Skills

    • Strong analytical, writing and communication skills

    • Knowledge of UN system policies and functions pertaining to promotion of women’s and girls’ empowerment and gender equality

    • In-depth knowledge of gender-transformative approaches to humanitarian assistance, application of humanitarian protection principles; understanding of PSEA and other forms of gender-based violence in emergency and other humanitarian settings; and other humanitarian policy issues and its linkages within humanitarian

    Standard Minimum Qualifications

    Education: 3 or more years of relevant work experience in Programme & Policy, Project/Programme Management in a Humanitarian Context, Vulnerability Analysis Mapping (VAM), or other field relevant to international development assistance with an advanced educational degree (OR) first university degree with 5 or more years of relevant work experience (relevance as per defined in the Terms of Reference for the position)

    Administrative/Assistant/Secretariat work experience is not considered, except for years holding Associate positions or above (UN equivalent grade G-6 or above), in which case each year is counted at 50%

    Languages: Fluency in both oral and written communication in English and Arabic.

    Citizenship: Only Yemeni citizens are eligible for this position.
