About the role
As Programme Officer for Eurasia department’s emergency support your main responsibility will be to manage the program and ensure the quality of support given. You will also identify relevant support for human rights defenders at risk, seeking or needing our support and identify flexible methods within our rapid response operations. The Programme Officer reports to the Eurasia Department Director.
The Position’s day to day duties will be to:
- Respond to, or identify, human rights defenders at risk
- Assess needs of human rights defenders at risk and identify relevant responses
- Coordinate with colleagues and Civil Rights Defenders partners to provide suitable rapid response support
- Be responsible for the full cycle of emergency grant making process
- Be responsible for reporting and monitoring of support results given
- Work together with colleagues within the Eurasia department to identify flexible approaches to rapidly changing human rights challenges
- Build and maintain a good relationship with key actors in the local, regional, and international human rights community

To be suitable for this role you have:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Law, Political Science, International Relations or similar, including education on international human rights mechanisms
- At least 3 years of relevant working experience
- Documented experience of NGO-work, project management & case work
- Experience of working with vulnerable and at-risk groups
- Fluency in English and Russian
- Solid IT skills, including good knowledge of Microsoft 365 (Teams, Outlook, Excel, PPT, Word)
- Knowledge in Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law
It is a merit if you have experience of being exposed to rapidly changing circumstances, are proficient in other UN languages and/or Eurasian languages and if you have working experience from rapid response mechanisms.
About the employment
This is a full-time permanent employment with 6 months probationary employment, starting in November 2022 or according to agreement.
