Fida International is a Finnish faith-based development and humanitarian organization. We have a long-standing record as a Finnish civil society organization in global development. Fida has a framework partnership agreement with Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Finland and ECHO – EU humanitarian aid agency. Our programme currently reaches 15 countries and focus especially on children´s education and safe living environment. Fida works in close and long-term partnership with local development NGOs.

 

 

Programme Officer in Iraq Programme: The vacancy is situated in Fida´s Country Office in Erbil, Iraq. The position is fulltime and fixed term, beginning as soon as possible. The contract will be made for one year at a time with three-month probation period. The contract may be renewable.

 

Fida International in Iraq offers you an opportunity to work with the active Erbil office staff and great local partners for the benefit of the people in most vulnerable situations in themes such as quality education, sustainable development, and inclusion of people with disabilities.

 

As a Programme Officer you will belong to the core programme team under supervision of the Country Programme Manager with the following responsibilities:

 

 • Overall operational support and supervision of currently implemented projects

• Participate in strategic planning and development

• Develop and work with tasks regarding monitoring, evaluations, accountability, and learning processes (MEAL), tracking programme status through monitoring tools and use of common IT tools

• Strive for thematic excellence, quality and impact of programmes including informal and quality education, inclusive education for children with disabilities as well as cross-cutting objectives like gender, persons with disabilities and environment and climate resilience

• Ensure timely and high-quality reporting is done by all project components

• Enhance project management capacity of local partners through training and mentoring

• Building of synergy and support joint learning among the programme components and local partners

• Develop external contacts, networks and relations with organizations, authorities, and private companies

• Develop grant management and participate in proposal writing

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 Qualifications:

• Proven experience with results-based programme/project management, preferably including supervision of procedures and compliance with donors’ requirements

• Thematic knowledge in at least two of the sectors: primary and secondary education, people with disabilities, social cohesion/peace building, youth and women empowerment, MEAL is an advantage

• University degree in development/social/economic studies or another relevant field

• Excellent English, both written and spoken

• Professional/advanced knowledge in Kurdish and/or Arabic

• Excellent communication skills

• Ability to organize and plan effectively, and to work under pressure

• Successful proposal writing track record is an advantage

• National in Iraqi Kurdistan
