MENTOR Initiative

The MENTOR Initiative is one of the world’s leading non-profit organisations dedicated to the control
of malaria and other vector borne diseases in emergency settings. The organisation directly delivers
large scale disease control interventions to the most vulnerable communities caught up in
emergencies, and in parallel, also works to build the technical and operational capacity of local and
international partners on the ground, to incorporate medium and long term disease control systems
into their operations and country strategy.

The MENTOR Initiative is looking for a highly motivated and skilled Programme Manager, to join its
Headquarters management team to work on programmes in Africa. The right person will have the
initiative, leadership and technical skill set to help design, support and lead new and effective
programmes to control vector borne diseases in some of the most challenging settings on earth
today.

You will need to have excellent team skills, advanced written and verbal communication skills, and
come with relevant country level and technical experience, and be able to support country level
teams and help them to achieve their full potential and impact.

Some of your skills will include

  • a minimum of 2 years’ relevant experience in the design, planning and implementation of programmes.

  • At least two years disease control in Africa.

  • A Proven ability to manage and train others and provide effective technical support.

  • Minimum of a Masters in Public Health, Epidemiology, Parasitology, Disease control or a related subject area.

  • A proven capacity to generate and maintain highly productive partnerships with local and international health organisations and excellent skills in monitoring and evaluation of health programme activities.

  • You will also be fluent in English, with other languages such as French, Portuguese, Arabic or Spanish a bonus.
