12 months Fixed Term Contract (with possible extension if funding provided)

Remuneration £60,354 per annum, approx. $79,408 USD (including all allowances)

About the Syria Response programme:

MAG has been responding to the Syria crisis since 2013 working to support and protect conflict affected communities from explosive remnants of war, so that people can restore and pursue their livelihoods in a safe and secure environment, free from fear of death or injury.

About the role:

MAG is recruiting for a Programme Development Manager (PDM) to support our Syria response programme. After a period of rapid expansion last year, this is an exciting time to join the MAG team, leading emergency response activities and working with partner organisations in a rapidly changing context.

The PDM will be play a crucial and critical leading role in developing overall strategy, quality management and impact, ensuring Programme needs are cared for, while producing high level results. Reporting directly to the Country Director, you will form part of the in-country Senior Management Team taking responsibility for programme development and implementation, partnerships, quality and accountability management, including monitoring, evaluation and learning

This is a challenging and varied role, offering the opportunity to use your wide-ranging management experience to influence Programme activities. The post-holder will be expected to lead and coordinate complex networks of relationships across the region.

The base location for this position will be North East Syria with likely travel to our other office in Erbil. There potentially could be travel around the Middle East region as part of the Syria response hubs for NGO’s and UN Agencies.

About you:

The successful candidate will have extensive experience of working overseas in an international development setting and be able to develop solid relationships, both internally and externally. Experience in the Mine Action sector is desirable. In addition, candidates must demonstrate a background in programme quality management and community inclusion, as well as showing a good understanding of protection, rural livelihood and international development issues.

Excellent people management skills, working knowledge of safeguarding principles and being fluent in English will be key to this role. Arabic or Kurdish language skills are also desirable.

Salary: The starting salary package for this position is £60,354 per annum and this increases with service.

Accommodation: MAG will provide accommodation in-country.

Leave: We recognise our staff work hard and need the appropriate time out to stay motivated. You’ll have a minimum of six weeks out of the programme per year.

Flights: MAG provides three international flights home per year.

Insurance: All international staff are automatically covered by MAG’s comprehensive insurance package including: Personal accident and medical expenses insurance; Death by natural causes insurance and access to 24-hour medical assistance including evacuation and repatriation.
