Program Officer-Community Health (HSS)

Save the Children International is currently recruiting for a Program Officer-Community Health to be based in Fort Portal Office. He/She Takes lead in delivering interventions related to Integrated Community Case Management-ICCM, Transport Voucher System, Motorcycle Village Ambulance, Community health insurance, integrated community outreaches and community Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health the Program Officer will work closely and liaise with the other Program Managers of other projects in the region to spar integration and benefit from project synergies within the region. The Program Officer may be called upon as and when necessary to support the emergency team in cases of humanitarian crisis.

In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

Essential:

• A good knowledge of working with local government and community structures.
• Strong analytical skills and strategic planning abilities.
• Computer literacy and excellent documentation skills are a must.
• Skills in working with VHTs to deliver the ICCM strategy in communities.
• Skills in development and use of behavioral change communication strategy for adolescent health programs.
• Excellent time management and planning capacity.
• Commitment to Save the Children values.

Desirable

• Willingness to travel and work in hard-to-reach areas, occasionally under strenuous conditions.
• Ability to establish and maintain conducive collegial relations and perform effectively as a member of a team.
• Availability and willingness to work extra hours during times of humanitarian responses.
• Highly developed cultural awareness and ability to work well in an international environment with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
• Ability to intervene with crisis management or troubleshooting as necessary.
• Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills including influencing, negotiation and coaching.
