About The Department

The Learning Commons provides free centralized academic support for all University of Cincinnati students. We bring together faculty, best-practices in teaching and learning, and hundreds of outstanding peer educators to create flexible academic success programming. Each year more than 6,000 students take advantage of Learning Commons Programs to build confidence, integrate on campus, and master challenging course content.

Job Overview

The Program Manager for Student Hiring and Front Desk Management will serve in a centralized role at the Learning Commons reporting directly to the Director for the Learning Commons. This position oversees the human resources functions for our Learning Commons student employees, including the application process, recruitment, hiring, centralized training, payroll, and personnel changes. They will supervise the front desk assistants for the four Learning Commons physical spaces and provide administrative support to the Learning Commons professional staff. This position will have the option to work in a hybrid environment- both in the office and remotely.

Essential Functions

  • Oversees human resources functions of Learning Commons student employees, including the application process, recruitment, hiring, centralized training, payroll, and personnel changes.
  • Will provide direct supervision to the Front Desk Assistant Student Staff (I.e. hiring/firing, performance evaluations, disciplinary action, approve time off, etc.).
  • Oversee the Learning Commons Front Desk Assistant schedule and budget.
  • Liaison between the UC Clifton and UC Clermont campuses to ensure quality customer service to student clients.
  • Perform related duties based on departmental need. This job description can be changed at any time.

Required Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Seven (7) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement.

Required Experience

Three (3) years of relevant experience.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and adapt to office needs.

  • Administrative skills and experience, including MS Office and comfort with creating process to track information using. Excel (e.g. applications/hiring, training compliance).
  • Ability to troubleshoot and problem-solve within office systems and structures.
  • Customer service skills or experience.
  • Supervision experience.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment

  • Office environment/no specific unusual physical or environmental demands.
