Position Summary:

The goal of the Administrative Intern position is to give the intern an inside and hands on approach to seeing how operational administrative tasks in the departments of Accounting, Engineering, Materials, Safety, and Human Resources are done in a real-world environment. A mentor will be assigned to the intern to guide, support, and coach them throughout their internship. The intern will be responsible for assisting the Plant Operations Manager, Controller, Materials Supervisor, EHS Supervisor, Engineering Supervisor, and Human Resources Supervisor in duties that are done around the plant. Tenneco is seeking a driven, self-motivated Business Administration or Business Management focused student who has an interest in gaining hands-on experience working at our fast-paced Clean Air Manufacturing Center located in Kansas City, Missouri.

Duties include: (But not limited to)

  • Filing, scanning, cataloging, and processing confidential paperwork
  • Communicate with outside agencies and companies the needs of Tenneco Kansas City
  • Answering calls and emails regarding the status of projects and information
  • Assisting in the coordination and planning of events

Required Skills:

  • Must be able to work independently and in a team-based environment.
  • Ability to work with all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Effective time management skills.
  • Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
  • Must have experience with maintaining sensitive and confidential employment records and/or information.
  • Student currently enrolled and pursuing an undergraduate degree in Business, Business Administration, or Business Management from an accredited institution.
  • Ability to participate in a Winter & Spring internship program (8-12 weeks, up to 20 hours a week).
  • Student with a minimum overall cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher.
  • Ability to provide own transportation to/from the job site.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Student with a minimum overall cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Student enrolled and pursuing an undergraduate degree with a focus (major or minor) in Business from an accredited institution.
