We are seeking a Program Director (f/m/d) Colombia and Region for the Deutsche Welle Akademie in Bogota as of 1 April 2024 or as soon as possible on the basis of a full-time local staff contract limited until 31 December 2025.

YOUR ROLE

• responsibility for the DW Akademie program in Colombia and the region, including the project “Local Journalism for Climate Protection”
• responsibility for monitoring, evaluation and achievement of project goals and fulfilment of indicators
• responsibility for planning and compliance with the budget
• interlinking of all projects in the target country and the region
• management of the DW Akademie office in Bogota
• representation of DW Akademie vis-à-vis other German and local institutions in Colombia and the region
• reporting and constant communication with DW Akademie offices in Germany
• consulting and strategic development of the cooperation with partner organisations in the target region
• monitoring of the media landscape and political developments in the target country and the region

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS

• completed university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in a relevant field
• longstanding professional experience in the field of journalism, freedom of expression and media development, ideally including professional journalistic experience in the field of environment and climate protection
• proven experience in the management of projects in the context of international development cooperation
• knowledge of innovative methods and instruments of media education
• excellent knowledge of the media situation and political developments in Colombia and the region
• training and consulting experience in media projects in the region
• experience in leading small teams
• excellent organisational and communication skills, high level of intercultural sensitivity and respect for diversity
• professional language proficiency in Spanish and English (written and spoken); additional knowledge of German and regional languages an advantage
• experience in conflict and crisis areas
• willingness to travel (national and international)
