A successful candidate will have the following:
FH is seeking an experienced Program Director to lead our Mozambique programs. The qualified PD will have 7 years of experience leading a country program team and the development and implementation of strategies to deliver quality programs in integrated Food Security and Livelihood, Health and Nutrition, and Education. S/he will oversee and ensure the program and initiatives meet highest levels of technical outcomes, produce results for most vulnerable communities, and contribute to the achievement of FH’s local and global strategic plans, supporting the Country Leadership Team to strengthen program quality, mobilize resources, and provide opportunities for partnering, networking, learning and knowledge management. The Program Director is managed directly by the Country Director (CD) and may at times be required to take on the responsibilities for the CD in his/her absence. Additionally, the top candidate will have a master’s degree in international development studies, public health, or other related field degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- A vibrant personal relationship with Jesus Christ, a Christian commitment to serving the poor, and in full agreement with FH’s Christian beliefs.
- Excellent organizational skills, ability to plan and coordinate work, ensure the efficient flow of projects and processes while working creatively and independently both in the field and in the office.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Strong people management skills/interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate, teach and mentor staff and volunteers.
- Comfortable and persuasive when speaking before both large and small groups.
- Ability to interact positively with all levels of the organization and across organizational and cultural boundaries.
- Familiarity with the humanitarian aid system and ability to understand donor and governmental requirements.
- Previous large-scale project management experience.
- Experience with USAID and other international donors.
- Knowledge of Human Resources, including recruiting and hiring..
What you’ll do…
As the PD, the main responsibilities are:
- Strategic planning and delivery of programs – The Country Strategy is reviewed, updated and monitored, and puts an advocacy strategy in place to support FH Mozambique and partners in driving changes in policies, norms, behaviors and practices that will contribute to eliminate poverty.
- Monitoring, Evaluation & Reporting
- Partnership Management – A strategy and mechanisms are put in place to support youth groups and movements to implement projects, carry out influencing activities and campaigns and lead change.
- Grants Management – Relevant grants acquisition and quality grant management are in place to support the delivery of the Country Strategy.
- Team Management – Leads the Program Department in becoming a high performing team supporting quality interventions.
