Working with the Process Automation team alongside a team of Engineers, our Process Control and Automation Engineering Student will have the opportunity to help plan and execute automation equipment upgrades, replacements, and assist in the design of new equipment where Process Automation is required!

Minimum Requirements:

  • Current enrollment in an undergraduate program or a related program at an accredited postsecondary institution with a Major in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering Technology and Minor in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering or vice-versa
  • You must be returning to full-time studies after the work term

Responsibilities:

  • Review engineering drawings that require Process Automation support
  • Work with other disciplines to commission new or modified equipment
  • Work with SQL, Power BI, PLC software, DCS Control System software, and other Microsoft tools to develop dashboards for business teams
  • Provide technical support to the Electrical / Instrumentation maintenance groups as required
  • Assist in troubleshooting activities, and getting involved in developing solutions to chronic problems
  • Interface with outside vendors to gain knowledge of new products and possible solutions which will benefit the company

Location and other Key Details:

  • This is a 4, 8 or 12-month work term starting in May 2023
  • You will work out of a Syncrude location in Fort McMurray. Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday
