The USAID-funded Climate Change Adaptation Project in Sri Lanka and the Maldives, implemented by Tetra Tech International Development (www.tetratech.com/intdev) is currently accepting expressions of interest for a Private Sector Engagement Specialist. This position will be located in Malé, Maldives.

The Climate Change Adaptation (CCA) Project enhances the adaptive capacities of the public and private sectors and local communities in Maldives and Sri Lanka to climate change impacts in ways that contribute to sustained, inclusive market-based growth. This five-year project seeks to identify and scale up innovative solutions to adaptively manage climate-related risks through market-driven private sector and community engagement; strengthen central and/or local governance to address climate-related risks; and improve availability and access to high-quality information for decision-making to reduce vulnerability to climate change in both countries. The CCA Project is a 5-year USAID contract being implemented by Tetra Tech, and runs through July 2026.

The Private Sector Engagement Specialist is responsible for engaging relevant stakeholders to identify and structure viable solutions to mitigate negative impacts of climate change in key economic sectors of tourism, fisheries and agriculture. S/he is responsible for working closely with partners to provide adaptation investment advisory services and strengthen the local adaptation innovation ecosystem through a CCA Activity incubator and accelerator program. This position reports to the DCOP/Maldives.

Responsibilities:

The Private Sector Engagement Specialist is responsible for identifying, catalyzing, amplifying, ensuring sustainability, monitoring and reporting on CCA Activity private sector engagement activities in the Maldives. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following tasks:

*In collaboration with the DCOP/Sri Lanka (who also serves as the Sri Lanka PSE Specialist), develop comprehensive yet flexible plan for the CCA Activity Maldives incubator and accelerator program in order to identify, catalyze, amplify and sustain innovative investments and financing in the Maldives climate change adaptation ecosystem;

*In collaboration with DCOP Maldives and Sri Lanka, develop Scope of Work (SOW), Request for Proposals (RFP), Request for Applications (RFA) for relevant activities to engage the private sector;

*Collaborate with subcontractor representatives from TWCorp and Solimar as well as other potential providers to ensure strategic and efficient delivery of investment and financing support;

*Collaborate with DCOP, Grants Manager and other technical staff to identify, implement, monitor and report on Grants under Contract for relevant private sector innovation;

*Collaborate with the DCOP/Sri Lanka to seek opportunities for synergy and cross learning/training between the Maldives and Sri Lanka; and

*Provide significant contributions to CCA Activity project deliverable documents including but not limited to Startup and Preliminary Work Plan, Annual Work Plan, Weekly Updates, Quarterly *Reports, Annual Reports and Activity Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Plan (AMELP).

Qualifications:

*Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration or related field.

*Minimum four (4) years of experience in PSE and structuring investments; Experience in the Maldives’ tourism and/or fisheries sector; and Familiarity with Climate Change adaptation challenges and opportunities in the Maldives.

*Demonstrated understanding of and network with private sector leaders in the Maldives. Understanding of and commit to climate change adaptation. Sound understanding of development and environmental issues in private sector will be an added advantage.

*Professional fluency in written and spoken English as well as Divehi is required.
