Anthony Nolan

We’re Anthony Nolan and we save the lives of people with blood cancer who need a stem cell transplant.

We’re unique. Thanks to the incredible donors on our register, our pioneering research and our passionate fundraisers, we give a second chance of life to three people every day.

But we won’t stop there. We want to be there for everyone who needs a transplant; from finding a match, through every step of a patient’s transplant journey. And together we can reach the remarkable day when we can save the lives of everyone with blood cancer.

And now we are looking for a Philanthropy Officer to join our lifesaving team.

Title: Philanthropy Officer

Salary: £29,000 (including London weighting)

Contract: Permanent. Full-time

Hours: 35 hours per week

Location: Flexible working, split between Anthony Nolan Head Office (Hampstead) and home-based

We are looking for a passionate and driven Philanthropy Officer to join our Philanthropy Team and play a key role in achieving our growth ambitions through strengthening and establishing meaningful relationships with trusts, foundations, and individuals.

Experience and skill in building and maintaining strong working relationships are paramount and we welcome applications from those with a background in the commercial or charity sectors.

We work closely with our researchers, register development and patient services colleagues, to understand their work, identify areas of potential interest to funders and develop compelling proposals and cases for support. Therefore, someone with an intellectual curiosity to understand complex ideas (including scientific research), and the ability to transform this information into engaging communication will be very well suited to this role.

With the right projects against which to fundraise, interesting prospective and existing supporters and an organisation which is ambitious to grow and do more, this is an ideal time to join us as we implement our strategy for transformational growth in philanthropic income.

Main tasks of role:

  • Manage own portfolio of supporters including small and medium-sized Trusts and Foundations and individual Major Donors.
  • Liaise with our researchers and service delivery colleagues to collect information and impact data on Anthony Nolan’s projects to develop compelling proposals, grant applications, reports and donor communications.
  • Manage our UK-wide small trust mailing programme, ensuring it continues to deliver significant income into the team and gathering data and information to inform future mailings.
  • Support and involve senior management and trustees as necessary in the development of relationships with current and potential funders.
  • Support the identification and research of new Trust and Foundation prospects, as well as individual supporters within our current networks, to cultivate and turn into financial supporters.
  • Maintain up to date and accurate records, making sure donations and contact points are recorded to ensure data accuracy and effective donor stewardship.
  • Support the collection and presentation of budgets and relevant financial information of Anthony Nolan’s projects to include in proposals and funding reports.
  • Support improvement of internal fundraising systems and processes to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the Philanthropy team.
  • Input into the Philanthropy team strategy based on relationships with funders and prospects.

Anthony Nolan is committed to equal opportunities & is a living wage accredited employer.

All applicants must be able to demonstrate the right to work in the UK.
