Philanthropy and Partnerships Officer

The Brooke Hospital for Animals

Job Summary

The Role

Brooke are seeking a dynamic individual, with experience of building and maintaining key charitable investment relationships, to join our Philanthropy and Partnerships team.

The role is primarily responsible from securing, maintaining and building high value (£1k-£10k) income in the UK from charitable trusts and foundations to support Brooke’s global projects, making a huge difference to the lives of working equines and the communities that rely on them for their livelihoods.

The role presents an exciting challenge in an increasingly competitive fundraising environment. We seek someone with the necessary relationship building and proposal writing skills to present Brooke as a compelling proposition to new investment markets, whilst maximising support from our bank of 250+ existing high value supporters that will lead to a growth in this stream of income, to meet the targets of our new 2022-27 fundraising strategy.

The post holder will lead on account management, proposal development, face to face meetings, and negotiations with key decision makers from trusts and foundations. The individual will also be expected to participate in events and input into strategy development opportunities.

Criteria

You will need demonstrable track record of achieving targets raising funds from charitable trusts and foundations, with an emphasis of proactively developing and building individual relationships, as well as developing bespoke propositions.

There is a requirement for a successful candidate to have up to date knowledge of Institute of Fundraising codes of practice relating to major donor and trust fundraising in particular, and a basic knowledge of UK tax law relating to major giving, data compliance and gift aid issues.

Planning and organising skills are also essential, especially around working to deadlines, monitoring progress against the plans and against expenditure budgets and engagement event management.
