Who we need

Reporting into the Payroll Manager, we are looking for a Payroll Analyst. You will support the efficient and effective payroll accounting and administration processes in our Ceridian Payroll Environment. You will balance competing demands and deadlines, and collaborate with HR, Finance, Accounting, and directly with employees on payroll issues. You will reconcile benefits, expense accounts, and quarterly board of director payments in addition to supporting reporting and auditing. Every day is a new challenge as you work towards processing payroll for two separate companies. Joining us now is an exciting opportunity to be challenged and rewarded for your meticulous attention to detail and diplomatic relationship skills.

What’s in it for you

Professional development and career growth. You will be part of a collaborative team, supported by HR and Finance, and reporting to the Payroll Manager who was previously in this role and has vast knowledge and insights. You want to take on new challenges that expand your skills without sacrificing your work-life balance. Through our recent acquisition, you will have the opportunity to be part of aligning, analyzing, and updating payroll system changes to ensure a smooth transition for all employees involved. This may include updating Ceridian to Dayforce, working with SAP, or interfacing across multiple systems.

What you will focus on

  • Semi-monthly payroll. You will use Ceridian for various provinces across Canada, including Quebec, to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing for salaried and hourly employees for two separate but related companies.
  • Payroll changes. You will process salary changes, including new hires, terminations, increases, bonuses, etc., in accordance with company policies and in conjunction with our Human Resources Department.
  • Ensure compliance. You will adhere to all employment legislation and regulatory guidelines for Revenue Canada, Revenue Quebec and Service Canada, including any Federal and Provincial Reporting and filing. You will stay current with federal/provincial legislation and changes, along with best practices to ensure payroll is compliant.
  • Enhance processes. You will identify opportunities for continuous improvement projects related to payroll processing and reporting.
  • Collaborate. You will work closely with your team, Finance, and HR. You will support the Accounting team at month-end and year-end audits. You will liaise with payroll service providers, employees, and auditors.
  • Prepare additional reports and documentation. You will administer year-end payroll processing and tax forms as needed. You will prepare appropriate monthly reconciliations as assigned, including payroll accounts and relevant GL accounts.

What you bring

  • The experience. You have a degree or diploma in a related field, and you are a certified Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP). You have 2+ years administering and processing Canadian (including Quebec) payroll and benefits, completing payroll conversions. You are highly proficient in Ceridian’s payroll system and MS Office.
  • The interpersonal skills. You have flexible and effective communication skills. You can build trusting relationships within and across teams. You ask intelligent questions to diplomatically obtain information, identify root causes, and determine solutions.
  • The accountability. You take ownership of your work and its impact on our success. You can identify opportunities for process improvement and the organization and time management to implement those changes. You thrive in an evolving, dynamic environment. As a result, you can seamlessly adapt to changes in priorities, the business, the talent landscape, and the industry.

Be part of a fast-paced company that offers you exciting opportunities to advance your career while you contribute to helping Canadians build secure tomorrows.

Many of the individuals who lead our team have an impressive tenure with us, and every single one of them will tell you, it’s about the people—the people we serve and the people we work with. We’re a small organization with flexibility, openness, and responsiveness; with the security and resources to continue to do our work in a way that makes the most impact on our customers.

Be a part of a place guided by people-focused, not profit-driven values: Communicate openly, be accountable, be curious, celebrate together as one family.

This is a place that stands behind work-life balance, an accessible leadership team, transparent communication, and an atmosphere that can only be described as family-focused. We continue to promote an engaged work-life balance throughout the pandemic with initiatives that include virtual town halls, casual online coffees, mental health workshops and employee appreciation packages. The very nature of what we do – listening to our customers – is the foundation of how we collaborate, learn from one another, embrace diverse perspectives, and hold each other up.

If you have the majority of the qualifications we’re looking for and you’re interested in joining the team, we encourage you to express your interest by submitting an application. Apply now.
