Education Development Trust
Job purpose:
The roleholder will be responsible for the management of new product development and innovation projects for Education Development Trust, overseeing a portfolio within the SSA region. They will act as a product owner for defined initiatives, leading the development of new innovations from identification of opportunities through to scaling products for new countries and clients.
Job Objectives:
Development and strategy

Conduct market analysis for existing and future propositions, identifying policy and market trends to inform the development and positioning of our educational offer.

Identify new product and innovation opportunities within the SSA market, developing proposals for consideration by senior management.

Develop business cases for new product investment, identifying short and long term value to Education Development Trust in line with corporate and regional strategies.

Design and implement formative research to inform product development, taking into account external best practices and user needs, in line with R&D design and innovation processes.

Lead the scoping and definition of R&D projects, in line with R&D’s frameworks and the product life cycle; and contribute to the continuous improvement of R&D frameworks and systems through contributing new tools and templates.
Product and innovation management

Lead and manage R&D projects in the SSA region to meet defined project goals and budget, ensuring effective collaboration with wider SSA programmes.

Lead collaboration with experts within the organisation, working with a matrix structure, to ensure successful project delivery, drawing on technical, research and commercial expertise.

Communicate products and innovations from the SSA region throughout the organisation, to support future development and scaling efforts in line with agreed business growth strategies.

Evaluate impact and lessons from R&D projects to inform future strategies, product design and to support senior team members with reporting.
Insights and external engagement

Track and capture learnings and insights from R&D projects, and wider education solutions in the SSA region as appropriate, to capture value from investments, support learnings and feed forward into future developments.

Develop tools and collateral to support business development and client engagement.

Develop external knowledge products and contribute to thought leadership, drawing on insights and learning from products and innovations in SSA.

Act as the product champion, leading external advocacy, client engagement and fundraising efforts, in collaboration with regional experts and business development colleagues, to support business growth and reputation.
