This company has a fantastic success story that has seen growth in turnover to well in excess of £100M t/o in the last 10 years. Looking ahead, they are forecasting continued growth coupled with ambitious investment plans to significantly increase the size and scale of the business.
The manufacturing business is part of a well-capitalised global group which has a strong balance sheet, and appetite to invest and support their businesses.
Description
- Contribute to defining company strategy and converting company strategy into production and manufacturing strategy for operational excellence.
- Provide leadership within a large scale 24/7 operations environment of circa 600+ employees, providing effective mentoring and development of leadership team with a focus on people, culture and engagement.
- Capitalise on process efficiency and technical innovation to ensure that the company remain ahead of their industry and retains its competitive edge, whilst maintaining quality and excellence.
- Review of manufacturing processes and procedures for effectiveness and continuous improvement where required.
- Key focus on sustainability, recycling processes and carbon reduction.
- Implementation and delivery of KPIs and performance management initiatives.
- Develop manufacturing budget, reporting on budget, and maximising efficiency of CapEx projects.
- Drive operational performance by using Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost drivers.
- Lead for continuous improvement initiatives focused on increasing gross margin, reducing waste, improving quality, reducing lead time and improving overall customer service.
- Install a positive working culture of financial performance and profit growth.
- Strong focus and understanding of health and safety metrics.
- Identify CAPEX requirements and provide clear return on investment business cases for such plans.
Profile
- Experienced leader who has a demonstrable track record of success as an Operations Director within a large-scale industrial manufacturing environment.
- People focused down to earth approach who has flexibility of thinking with an informal and inclusive leadership style that would suit a rapidly expanding SME environment.
- Background in continuous improvement, lean manufacturing principles and the tools associated.
- Competent in problem solving, team building, planning and decision making
- Hands on/can do attitude with an open and likeable personality with honesty and integrity.
- Can operate equally effectively in the boardroom and on the shop floor.
- Leadership style; visible, structured, empathetic but directive. Clearly communicates vision, strategy.
