Wiltshire Police Occupational Health have an exciting new opportunity for an appropriately qualified professional, this is an exceptional time to be part of a small and unique team. There is an expectation that applicants will have experience of working within an Occupational health setting, either in the capacity of a technician / health care assistance or within a healthcare screening role ideally (NVQ 3 level). A newly qualified nurse (preceptorship) may apply for the post to develop skills and expertise in an Occupational health setting, this could also lead to development opportunities to undertake an occupational health nurse qualification.

The Occupational Health setting provides a variety of positive working experiences, it is a speciality within a discipline, providing support for a unique section of our society.

Consideration will be given to applicants that have had extensive experience of working within a health / medical environment or health care setting and is looking for an opportunity to develop skills to work as an OH technician

Experience: You will have to demonstrate that you have

  • Experience of working in a health / medical environment
  • Awareness and understanding of the Health & Safety executive standards
  • Experience of working as an Occupational health technician / health care assistance / health screening role/nurse preceptor.
  • Experience of devising efficient administrative systems and processes.
  • Experience of working unsupervised and managing own time and workload
  • Competent in the use of Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel
  • Ability to compile and write reports
  • Good communication skills (both verbal and written).
  • Ability to maintain and keep accurate and up-to-date records
  • Ability to follow agreed protocols
  • A good understanding of confidentiality and give examples of its application.

Under the direction of the Occupational Health Nurse, the post holder will assist in providing a full range of screening support services for the Occupational Health Unit. A flexible approach to working hours is also expected, with occasional evening work.

If successful in application you will be working in a small, multi-disciplinary team, led by the Head of Occupational health services.
