Context:

 

Under the general guidance of the Chief of Mission (CoM) and the overall supervision of the Migration health officer, technical supervision of the Medical Movements Physician and in close coordination with the Senior nurse in Baghdad, the incumbent will support the effective coordination of the Pre-departure medical activities within IOM Health Assessment Programme in Iraq

In particular, the incumbent will have the following duties and responsibilities:

 

Core Functions / Responsibilities:

 

 

  1. Assist medical movements physician in conducting Quality Control/Quality Assurance procedures on medical movements and presumptive treatment coverage in Iraq
  2. In collaboration with country-based movements physicians monitor epidemiological situation in the country and update the migration health officer on disease outbreaks of public health concern.
  3. Assist medical movements physician in coordination of IOM response activities in respect to outbreaks that occur in the populations considered for resettlement.
  4. Monitor the Advanced booking notifications on daily basis and alert the movement physicians of any changes in the bookings
  5. Promote and support the use of the Enhanced advanced medical notifications in the Iraq program
  6. Assist in the development of medical movements SOPs and checklists.
  7. Communicate and disseminate information and resources to nurses regarding medical movement trainings and good practice across Iraq operations, as developed by the global Programme
  8. Coordinate, and perform if needed, the medical escort duties when required to ensure migrants receive continued care throughout all phases of migration (before departure, during the journey and at the destination).
  9. Update the medical escort tracking sheets monthly
  10. Review the medical escort bags regularly to ensure the contents are up to date and replace expired items.
  11. Review vaccination records prior to every movement and ensure mimosa is updated prior to the movement dates.
  12. Review regularly the technical instructions of receiving countries regarding outbreaks management and response and ensure compliance by all migrants prior to departure.
  13. In close coordination with Senior nurse maintain a tracking tool to ensure adequate stocks of presumptive treatment medication are always available.
  14. Performs other duties that may be assigned.

 

Education

 

  • University degree in Nursing or related filed from accredited academic institution with 3 years of relevant professional experience
  • Completed High School degree from accredited academic institution with 5 years relevant professional experience.

 

Experience

 

  • Three years of work experience in Clinical Nursing
  • Knowledge of outbreak response is an added advantage.
  • Mature individual, able to work independently, effectively, and harmoniously with colleagues from varied cultures and professional backgrounds at all levels.
  • Capable of working under stressful and difficult conditions.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain accuracy and confidentiality in performing responsibilities.
  • Computer literate on Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access.
  • Training and experience in Vaccination, TB, STDs, other communicable diseases and migration health is considered an asset.

Languages

 

  • English and Arabic are required.
  • Any other language is an advantage.
