Purpose of the Position:

The purpose of this post is to provide network professional services to deploy, manage and support UNICC’s and customer’s network infrastructures.

Objectives of the Programme:

The objective of the Centre is to provide trusted ICT services and digital business solutions to its Clients and Partner Organizations.

Main duties and responsibilities:

The incumbent will work under the direct supervision of the Network Engineer – Team Leader (Network Operations Team, OPBO) and under the guidance of the Head, Infrastructure and Platform Operations Unit (OPBO). The incumbent will also be in close collaboration with the remaining support teams within the unit.

The incumbent will perform the following duties:

  • Lead and participate in new projects and deployments of solutions for UNICC and customers, provide support capacity to conduct network assessment, and other related activities
  • Contribute to the creation of new opportunities (BCRs and SDAs) by supporting BRMs and Service Delivery Managers with technical information, process information and effort estimates
  • Recommend enhancements to the most complex network operations and design where appropriate
  • Help improve team efficiency by contributing to Shift-left and automation initiatives
  • Lead the monitoring, analysis and optimization of the performances of the most complex supported infrastructure and systems
  • Develop and maintain detailed technical and graphical documentation as needed
  • Liase with service delivery managers and focal points to ensure delivery of quality networking services to customers
  • Lead the development/update of specific tools and scripts to improve the automation of the supported systems
  • Participate in the incident management and request fulfilment across the UNICC and customer’s network infrastructure in collaboration with Tier 3 and other stakeholders, as applicable, while helping identify complex technical problems and propose solutions as a part of resolution management processes
  • Participate in service coverage arrangement such as oncall duty services and other support coverage arrangements, if and when required

Others:

  • The incumbent may be required to act as Officer-In-Charge of the Unit, during the absence of the Team Leader
  • Provide other ad hoc support either within the team or in other teams as required – this includes the participation in special projects or support to service delivery for short period of time on a part-time or full-time basis upon request from the senior management

Recruitment Profile

Experience and Skills required:

Essential:

  • A minimum of five (5) years relevant IT work experience in supporting and/or operating enterprise LAN, Data Center, Voice networks and WAN environments and related services in a complex heterogenous environment
  • Excellent experience interfacing directly with customers for network support and solutions delivery
  • Excellent experience in administering and troubleshooting different networking solutions and components (Firewalls, Cisco devices, Routers and switches, Checkpoint devices, VPNs and WIFI solutions).
  • Strong knowledge of TCP/IP protocol and networking routing protocols including OSPF, BGP
  • Good knowledge of MPLS routing
  • Ability to configure and provide support for load balancer solutions such as F5 and/or Citrix NetScaler’s Load Balancers and Application Delivery Controllers
  • Good understanding and knowledge of network management and monitoring tools
  • Experience interconnecting private data centers to the public cloud
  • Working knowledge in shell scripting and automation tools
  • Good experience using protocols analyzer and sniffers to troubleshoot network problems (e.g. wireshark)
  • Customer-centric approach to delivery and problem solving
  • Good knowledge of service management methodology (i.e. ITIL, ISO2000, etc)

Desirable:

  • Experience with service reporting and business analytics
  • Experience on cloud networking technologies

Education*:

Essential:

  • First university degree, preferably in Computer Science, Telecommunications, Mathematics or related field

Desirable:

  • Network-related certifications
  • Other Industry related certifications (security, cloud, etc)

Languages:

  • English: Expert knowledge is required
  • Other language: Spanish, Intermediate knowledge is desirable

Other Information

Compensation:

Annual Salary Estimation (net of tax at single rate), including post adjustment (28,4% on December 2022): US$ 80,496.

UNICC also offers generous leave and absence allowances, flexible working hours, overtime compensation, teleworking, access to training, and depending on eligibility other benefits such as relocation grant, dependency allowance, language allowance, or education grant.
