The Opportunity

This is an exciting time at NetHope as the organization develops programs and services in collaboration with members and partners. Working with the team of staff and expert consultants, the Facilitator will help NetHope establish and grow NetHope’s Digital Leadership Institute, delivering online training offerings for nonprofit executives and senior leaders to increase their digital skills, and their applicable uses in the humanitarian sector. NetHope is creating the NetHope Digital Leadership Institute for its Members and other nonprofit executives.

NetHope Digital Leadership Institute Facilitator

NetHope is seeking an experienced, organized, and enthusiastic professional to provide online facilitation support of the NetHope Digital Leadership Institute, an initiative to augment the digital skills of 200+ nonprofit executives and senior leaders.

With this, the Facilitator will ensure that each learner within their cohort is presented with the developed curriculum in a manner that is accessible, challenging, and engaging. The facilitator will make use of collaborative pedagogy to maximize critical thinking, learning, and writing skills through interaction and interpersonal engagement. Through six unique courses, the Facilitator will support both synchronous and asynchronous learnings by both pre-recording sessions while also bringing the cohorts together. To support the professionalization of training offerings, NetHope is recruiting consultant(s) who can facilitate videoconference-based learning curriculum across a variety of topics. Consultants will work remotely to complete the duties and responsibilities outlined below while reporting to the NetHope Senior Director, Field & Impact Programs. They will closely collaborate with the Senior Director of The NetHope Center for the Digital nonprofit, Global Head of Innovation, during the design phase, and will have direct involvement with NetHope’s SMEs, and NetHope partners.

Scope of work:

  • Facilitate learning strategies and training programs for the NetHope Digital Leadership Institute for cohorts of 15-20 executive learners within a curriculum across the themes of the Nonprofit Digital Skills Framework:
  • Complex problem solving
  • Digital Responsibility
  • Highly Adaptive Collaboration
  • Entrepreneurial Mindset
  • Creativity and Innovation
  • Technical Literacy
  • Implement collaborative pedagogy to give learners autonomy, mastery and purpose. Engage their experience and accumulated knowledge and increase it through participation, helping them solve their problems with relevant solutions.
  • Evaluate individual and cohort development needs.
  • Deliver e-learning courses, workshops, and other trainings, and learning experiences for visual, auditory, and kinaesthetic adult learners with a diversity of learning methods for digital skills (e.g., coaching, job-shadowing, online training).
  • Adhere to course design and Facilitator Guide, ensuring delivery of all content in the course as intended by the curriculum designed
  • Facilitate in a virtual environment using the appropriate tools, activities, and methodologies to ensure a highly interactive, practical experience.
  • Use effective questioning techniques to assess progress, elicit reactions, and confirm understanding.
  • Shape learner experience through in class responses.
  • Encourage participation by creating a safe environment.
  • Make content come alive through engagement and mastery of knowledge.
  • Be comfortable facilitating discussions, answering questions, and consulting on subject areas included within the curriculum.
  • Effectively navigate variability in audience skills, industry representation, class size, and class modality.
  • Administer tests/surveys for participants to confirm that they have learned and/or have the knowledge needed.

Schedule

  • It is expected that work will commence in March 2023 with the initial focus on prerecording and planning sessions while coordinating with the Curriculum Designer.
  • NetHope expects the first cohort to begin the 6 module training in May 2023 where the facilitator will be actively engaged.
  • Each cohort takes 6 Modules of online training over 3 months. Each Module is 7 hours long, and presented over two weeks.
  • The Module structure is as follows:
  • Week 1: 1 Hour of self-study, in which the learner is given relevant articles and case studies to read as part of the topic
  • Week 1: 3 Hour online virtual meeting (with short breaks), where the Learners engage with the pre-reading material, and are engaged in conversation with a Subject Matter Expert, with the help of the Facilitator
  • Week 2: 3 Hour online virtual meeting (with short breaks), where the Learners engage with their own problem statement and attempt to apply the learning to the problem through the use of peer insight and collaborative learning in small groups. The Facilitator keeps conversations going, helps groups read out their insights, and highlights common themes of the conversations in the breakouts.
  • Each cohort is expected to be a minimum of 15 people and a maximum of 20 people (excluding support staff). Some cohorts may run concurrently, but be scheduled on different days so the same facilitator is present in each module presented.
  • Due to the nature of humanitarian contexts, some cohorts may experience disruption in their schedule to respond to emergencies/disasters. For this reason the ‘normal’ cohorts are expected to complete in January/February 2024, but (depending on the need for ‘catch up cohorts’) this may be extended to March 2024.
