British Red Cross

Salary: BRC Grade 5

About the role

The British Red Cross (BRC) has been engaged with the Somali Red Crescent Society (SRCS) since 2018 to undertake a comprehensive National Society Development (NSD) programme as a priority. This was to be founded on the findings of the IFRC’s “Organisational Capacity Assessment and Certification” (OCAC) process, and to be achieved through intensified coordination with other Movement partners working in Somalia. A three-year NSD Plan for SRCS was developed and implemented with the direct aim of increasing professionally delivered humanitarian services. Planning is now underway for the second phase of the NSD Programme.

Under the direction of the ICRC Cooperation Department and the National Society Development (NSD) steering committee, the NSD Delegate will support the Somali Red Crescent Society (SRCS) to develop the second phase of the NSD programme based on findings of the NSDI evaluation and develop a Phase Two NSD Plan, supporting SRCS to ensure that all Movement NSD support is fed into the NSD plan.

The NSD delegate will report directly to the SRCS president for the progress and challenges on the NSD programme and will report into the in-country ICRC Movement Cooperation Coordinator (also based in Nairobi for management and HR aspects). The NSD Delegate will also have a technical reporting line to the Senior NSD Advisor based in the UK.
