Organization Background
Collateral Repair Project (CRP) is a grassroots effort in Amman, Jordan that has provided much-needed assistance to vulnerable communities since 2006. We seek to assist those in need, foster social cohesion, offer learning opportunities, and help in building peace and reconciliation. Our services are provided regardless of background, and we currently provide assistance to people from many nationalities (e.g. Syria, Iraq, Jordan, Sudan, Yemen, Somalia).
CRP’s holistic approach involves deep community engagement, where we help individuals build resilience and heal from trauma. At our Family Resource and Community Centers, CRP provides a variety of educational, recreational, and wellness activities, which aid our community to gain skills and build community. Additionally, we provide community service and leadership opportunities for people to serve others, which has proven to be a key driver of empowerment and resilience. CRP’s greatest strengths are the deep knowledge and trust we have established with the community we serve, our commitment to community-based engagement, and our ability to develop nuanced, cost-effective, and impactful programs.

Position Description
This is an exciting opportunity for a proactive and early-career professional interested in learning and contributing to the work of a dynamic grassroots organization. Working as part of CRP’s Community Center and Data teams, the MEL and Reporting Officer will work to implement CRP’s organizational MEL strategy and support in CRP’s external reporting to institutional donors. This role supports CRP’s efforts to ensure a data-driven, results-oriented approach to community development. The MEL and Reporting Officer will supervise a MEL intern.
The MEL and Reporting Officer will report directly to CRP’s Data/IT Director, Samer Kurdi, and is responsible for activities including, but not limited to:
Monitoring, Evaluation, Data Collection, and Learning (50% effort)
● Oversee data collection efforts (via surveys, focus group discussions, and other means) and ensure that MEL activities are implemented according to the planned time frame.
○ Design and implement surveys in both Arabic and English, including the writing of questions, as per industry standards to ensure the quality and accuracy of data being collected.
○ Design and implement focus group discussions in both Arabic and English
● Closely work with program implementation staff to develop MEL tools for their respective programs.
● Maintain accessible, comprehensive electronic systems for tracking and reporting data and information. Ensure that sensitive data is stored appropriately and securely.
● Preparation of quarterly and annual MEL reports that reflect progress of CRP programs and review opportunities for learning to improve program design.
● Organize learning events that support program implementation staff.
Reporting (40% effort)
● Review monitoring information for reporting purposes (demographic profile of participants, attendance, and progress toward indicator targets).
● Work with program staff to ensure their timely input into reporting on grant-funded projects on a monthly basis.
● Prepare MEL data that reflects donor-funded program outcomes (including visual elements like charts, informative tables, and qualitative narratives reflecting MEL data).
Administrative Support (10% effort)
● Provide oversight and support to the MEL Intern and participate in selection of new interns to fill this role as needed.
● Support the Grants & Partnerships Department in reviewing objectives and designing log frames.
● Any other related tasks assigned by the line manager and leadership team.
Personal Specification
Experience, Qualifications, and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, required;
- 2-5 years of relevant work experience in humanitarian assistance or development fields is required, and 1-2 years experience in MEL is required;
- Experience working with refugees or other vulnerable populations, or experience in a
- community development setting (highly desirable);
- Experience in data collection design and implementation (both quantitative and
- qualitative), data analysis, and data presentation;
- Excellent communication skills in English and Arabic (written AND verbal);
- Confident user of Google Suite/Microsoft Office tools, particularly spreadsheets.
