GOAL

General Description of the Programme:

GOAL has been working in Syria since 2013, responding to the acute needs of conflict-affected communities. GOAL is working in Idleb Governate, both through direct implementation and through partners, delivering food, non-food programming to highly vulnerable populations, and provision of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) through support to Water units, as well as emergency support to recently displaced households.

GOAL has been working in North Aleppo Governate since 2019, through direct implementation and through partners, delivering food, non-food programming to highly vulnerable populations, as well as emergency support for recently displaced household.

Job purpose:

The MIS Assistant for the MIS Team will report directly to the MIS Officer based in A’zaz and will coordinate closely with him/her regarding the timely and accurate collection of all data relating to programme activities (including beneficiary lists, distribution details etc.).

Through their work the MIS Assistant supports GOAL projects by ensuring accurate and up to date data is available for all programme activities, while supporting on information management and adapting/ improving data collection and storage processes in the field to ensure quality information and clarity on methods for collecting and entering the same.

Duties, objectives and competencies

  • Ensure accurate and up-to-date information is maintained for all programme activities and that data generated through field activities is updated on a daily basis on centralised records and stored securely; this includes ensuring accurate disaggregation of beneficiary data, in line with GOAL and donor requirements and ensuring that ‘no-shows’ and new arrivals are effectively tracked and recorded for all programme activities;
  • Implement and manage information management system for hard and soft copy programme documentation, including scanning and storage.
  • Act as a primary focal point where unsatisfactory data collection has taken place in Northern Aleppo.
  • Keep tracking CommCare entries and verify the accuracy and correctness of the data.
  • Use GOAL’s online system to update the data of distribution, or beneficiaries list.
  • Up to date reporting using Power BI.
  • Ensure adherence to GOAL’s Code of Conduct and Child Protection Policy and standards of integrity, as well as uphold GOAL’s whistleblowing mechanisms;
  • Other tasks as required relating to data management and as determined by the MIS officer.

Requirements (essential)

  • Bachelor’s Degree from a recognised university in IT, Data Management or similar.
  • At least 2 years’ work experience, with previous NGO experience in humanitarian work desirable
  • Good English language skills (spoken, written and reading)
  • Excellent Arabic language skills (spoken, written and reading)
  • Knowledge of GOAL’s target areas in northern Aleppo.
  • Experience of leadership and team management and ability to capacity build and motivate team members
  • Excellent IT skills (Microsoft Office, VBA, programming language in Excel, and HTML)
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Hard-working, proactive and able to prioritise to manage a demanding workload
  • Willing to work in N. Aleppo.
  • Demonstrated skills in data analysing using Power BI.
  • Commitment to beneficiary accountability and humanitarian principles

Requirements (desired)

  • Understanding/experience of digital data-gathering technology such as (CommCare , KoBoToolbox…) is desirable.
  • Previous experience in GOAL is desirable.
