Program Summary:

Project HOPE is providing humanitarian assistance to internally displaced and conflict-affected persons throughout Ukraine, as well as support to refugees in Poland, Romania, and Moldova. The portfolio in Ukraine focuses on Health, Protection, and WASH programming in partnership with two local NGOs, with private funding and support from USAID/BHA.

This position will be based in Lviv, Ukraine. Local Nationals Only

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) Assistant will be under the overall supervision of the MHPSS Specialist in Ukraine. In accordance with the objectives of the various projects and considering the activities to be implemented for the assistance to migrants and internally displaced persons, the successful candidate will undertake the following tasks:

  • In close coordination with the Program Director, MHPSS Team leader and MHPSS Officer ensure efficient and effective program implementation.
  • Support with contributing to the context analysis and providing translation and interpreting when needed it.
  • Carry out MHPSS monitoring, data collection and documenting the needs.
  • Participate in joint assessments, identifying MHPSS protection and SGBV concerns.
  • Support mapping of services and development of effective referral pathways.
  • Ensure adequate and relevant data collection.
  • Regular reporting of the activities planned and implemented.
  • Supporting the supervision of developing key tools and documents in line with PH guidelines and standards.
  • Follow up and support when needed the communication with counterparts.
  • Support and keep active communication with MHPPS Officers.
  • Assist in completing administrative tasks related to program implementation.
  • Responsible for scheduling meetings and including preparation of venue, stationery, and training materials.
  • Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree Social Work, Gender related studies, Psychosocial or Psychology studies or related area.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience working for INGO in a similar role.
  • Understanding of mental health and protection sector program design in humanitarian environments.
  • Community experience working with vulnerable populations on psychosocial interventions.
  • Experience in social services departments (NGOs, Governmental organizations).
  • Psychosocial support techniques knowledge.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and commitment to humanitarian principles.
  • Fluent knowledge of English and of local language (Ukrainian).
  • Essential computer literacy (word, excel and internet).

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be mobile in an office environment and able to use standard office equipment.

Work environment:

  • Typical office environment with exposure to a minimal noise level.
  • Emergency deployments may be in resource-deprived environments with austere living conditions.
  • Travel for extended periods may be by air and/or other modes of transportation.
  • Project HOPE employees may be required to travel or work in countries where working conditions are classified as “hardship.”
