Job Purpose

The Social Media Officer, Health Communications will work under the field site Coordinator, in coordination with the Community Health Technical Manager and is responsible for developing well researched health content, graphics, track audience metrics and managing IMC Iraq social media platforms to support community engagement objectives under IMC’s Response and programing for COVID-19.

 

Main Responsibilities

Content Development

This position will be responsible for:

·Developing evidence-based content in Arabic, Kurdish, English for rotation on IMC Iraq Social Media platforms, in coordination with the IMC CH Technical Manager.

·Support in writing and editing from IMC field teams, including success stories or posts to be shared on SM platforms.

·Developing evidence-based health promotion messages regarding COVID-19, in coordination with the Community Health Technical Manager for dissemination to target populations through approved channels (social media, SMS)

·Developing graphics around these messages for distribution in multiple formats.

·Capturing video or photo evidence of program activity as necessary.

 

Social Media Platform Management & Metrics

·Develop social media engagement plans and schedule and prepare associated content and collateral (multimedia, interviews and graphic design content)

·Monitor all online activity/comments/mentions on IMC SM platforms.

·Monitor social media analytics and leverage insight to adapt approach as necessary.

 ·Contribute to the development of approaches to continually improve engagement with stakeholders and target audiences.

 ·Maintain monthly digital analytics data and support the development of reports and solutions to ensure output effectiveness.

 

Vendor Management

·Assisting in the management of outsourced development of video awareness pieces (vendor management) – b-roll, main content script development, interview questions, shot layouts as needed.

·Support the Digital Content Lead in liaising with and overseeing external service providers contracted to track analytics and other online services for stakeholder engagement (e.g. online surveys), as well as subscribed media monitoring platform

 

Program Implementation:

·Ensure that communications-related program support needs are being processed on time. 

·Assist in arranging events or trainings as requested by the ERC or CH Technical Manager.

·Attend meetings with various departments as necessary and/or as requested by the CH Technical Manager or ERC

·Work with technical team and MEAL to ensure accurate reporting and timely communication of data and trends

·Support with raise purchase requests (PRs) related to communications

·Keep track of PRs and logistic issues related to health communications/Social Media

 

Miscellaneous:

·Travel to field sites if necessary and requested by the ERC or CH Technical Manager.

·Adhere to IMC Code of Conduct and internationally accepted humanitarian principles.

·Make sure that all program activities are implemented within IMC and donors’ policies and guidelines. 

·Follow all IMC rules and regulation including security clearances before travel.

·Any other tasks as requested by the ERC or CH Technical Manager.

 


Qualifications & Preferred Skills

 

 

 

 

Qualifications

   

Experience

 

·At least 2 years of relevant experience in the digital, marketing, design or communications profession.

·Strong grasp of online social media tools and techniques.

·Experience creating and publishing content, including:

·Video editing and graphic design skills. Must be an expert using video/photo/graphic editing software (successful applicants will be required to present examples or a portfolio of work).

·Animation and data visualization skills are a big plus.

·In-depth knowledge of engaging audiences on Facebook and other social media platforms (experience with social media analytics tools are an advantage)

·Must have experience writing engaging copy for social media, websites, and other marketing collateral; excellent writing skills with the ability to target different audiences and tailor output accordingly in Arabic, English.( Kurdish is additional)

·Proficiency in all relevant social media authoring tools, InDesign, Photoshop

*Strong written and oral communication skills in Arabic, and English, Kurdish is an asset 

*Ability to travel on short notice to project sites and other governorates when needed. 

*Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communications skills. 

*Strong organizational and supervisory skill. 

*Demonstrated ability to work in a team, in a multicultural environment, prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and ensure high quality work; 

*Computer literacy with demonstrated experience in utilization of Microsoft Office – Word, Excel and PowerPoint in particular. 

*Familiarity with international humanitarian operations, coordination structures, and the mandates of donors, UN agencies, and other NGOs

This position will be based in IMC Baghdad Office, with possibility of travel to field sites ( Diyala, Salahaldeen) and KRI, Ninewa , Erbil if needed.
