EE is a non-governmental, non-profit civil society organization operating primarily in Syria and in neighboring countries. Job Purpose

To assist in executing comprehensive monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning practices, ensuring all EE projects maintain quality standards and meet the needs of the beneficiaries effectively.

Key Responsibilities

1: Monitoring and Data Collection

  1. Conduct routine monitoring visits to project sites, collecting data relevant to project indicators.
  2. Use MEAL tools to ensure accurate and consistent data gathering.
  3. Assist in reviewing and revising data collection tools as needed.

2: Data Analysis and Reporting

  1. Analyze collected data to measure progress against project objectives.
  2. Prepare concise reports based on field findings and data analysis.
  3. Contribute to monthly, quarterly, and annual MEAL reports.

3: Accountability Mechanisms

  1. Support in the operation and maintenance of feedback and complaints mechanisms.
  2. Address beneficiary feedback, referring more complex cases to the CEO.
  3. Monitor the effectiveness of feedback mechanisms and suggest enhancements.

4: Learning and Documentation

  1. Document project success stories, challenges, and lessons learned.
  2. Collaborate with the CEO to ensure that learning is incorporated into project design and implementation.
  3. Maintain a repository of MEAL-related documents for easy access and reference.

5: Capacity Building and Training

  1. Facilitate basic MEAL training sessions for field staff.
  2. Promote a culture of learning within the project teams.
  3. Stay updated on global MEAL best practices and share knowledge with colleagues.

6: Evaluation and Assessment

  1. Assist in organizing and conducting baseline, mid-term, and end-line evaluations.
  2. Support external evaluators and assessors by providing relevant data and logistical support.
  3. Contribute to post-evaluation reviews and workshops.

7: Coordination with Project Teams

  1. Engage with project teams to ensure MEAL insights are integrated during project design and review.
  2. Provide regular feedback based on monitoring findings.
  3. Participate in project meetings, offering MEAL perspectives as needed.

8: Tool Development & Management

  1. Contribute to the refinement of existing MEAL tools.
  2. Ensure tools are readily available for field staff and provide guidance on their usage.
  3. Collaborate with the CEO on the development of new monitoring tools.

9: Data Management and Technology

  1. Assist in maintaining a comprehensive data management system.
  2. Support field teams in utilizing MEAL technologies such as mobile data collection.
  3. Adhere to data privacy and protection standards.

10: Provides Support

  1. Regularly update the CEO on field activities and challenges.
  2. Participate in MEAL strategy development and annual planning.
  3. Undertake other tasks as assigned by the CEO.

Note: the above-mentioned key responsibilities/accountabilities are illustrative ones. Other future responsibilities/accountabilities may be assigned to the job depending on the department organizational chart.

Qualification (Education/Work Experience/Languages)

  1. A Bachelor’s degree in Gender Studies, Development Studies, Social Sciences, or a related field. A Master’s degree is a plus.
  2. A minimum of 3 years of experience in Meal Department, preferably within the NGO sector and with a focus on women’s empowerment and gender equality.
  3. Familiarity with the regional context of Syria and the challenges faced by women in the area.
  4. Strong team management skills and experience working with remote teams.
  5. Proficiency in English and Arabic. Knowledge of Turkish is an advantage.
  6. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
  7. Ability to work in Turkey legally, Turkish Nationals are preferred.
