General Description of Orange:

Orange is a non-governmental civil society organization devoted to alleviating the suffering and improving the sustainability mechanisms of conflict affected population.

Orange partners directly with affected Syrian populations delivering humanitarian and development programmes, Livelihood, Education, and Protection, to enable them to improve their living practices and their sustainability mechanisms.

Orange also collaborates with national and international non-governmental organizations, local initiatives responding to the humanitarian Syrian crisis with capacity development programmes, to be better equipped with the skills they need to prepare and respond to affected population’s needs and to ensure that these communities, which we work within, are ready for any future disasters.

Job Purpose:

Under the direct supervision of the MEAL Officer, the MEAL Assistant is responsible for monitoring and evaluating all project activities. Also, present clear and confidential data and information related to accountability and learning components.

Duties, Objectives and Competencies:

  • Work closely with MEAL Officer to provide needed information and data.
  • Ensure transparent, accurate and timely collection of data by implementing surveys on household and community level, conducting focus groups or other participatory information collection tools, as well as collecting secondary data from secondary sources of information.
  • Conduct need assessments activities on field level and collect necessary data as per defined tools and techniques.
  • Participate in the internal evaluation process and conduct field visits depending on project activities.
  • Follow-up accountability activities and ensure that all trackers; info are filled and documented properly.
  • Organize and update the M&E database, files and records
  • Produce progress reports based on collected data; on daily, weekly and monthly basis.
  • Work in close cooperation with the project team and MEAL Officer to ensure the commitment to implementation plan.
  • Assist the staff to understand M&E tools (forms, data collection methods).
  • Support other tasks as required by the MEAL Officer.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • University degree in Computer Sciences, Information Technology, Statistics, or related technical field. Other specializations can be accepted based on previous experience.
  • Thorough knowledge in quantitative and qualitative data collection methods, and analysis is essential, Especially the use of MS Excel and KoBo Collect.
  • Good in English and Arabic.
  • At least one-year proven experience in MEAL field.
  • A flexible approach to work and willingness to take on extra duties, work additional hours or on weekends as required.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to coordinate with multiple parties and stakeholders.
  • Diplomacy and negotiation skills; and High communications skills and deep knowledge of the Syria context.
  • Willingness to learn and to take on extra duties as required.
  • Excellent attention to details.
  • Thorough knowledge on Sphere, Core humanitarian standards, child rights, HAP and evaluation criteria are essential.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, stressful environment.
